First experience in Kentucky

As some of you know, this weekend I got to travel to Kentucky to enjoy a weekend with Big Blue Nation. We got in late Friday night, attended a shoot around Saturday morning, toured the facilities and then attended the first half of the Arizona game. The practice facility was amazing and our team was in awe the entire time. As for Rupp Arena, it was essentially the same thing. Although, it doesn't top Allen Fieldhouse (obviously Rock Chalk lol), it was still an unforgettable experience. It actually was interesting the location of Rupp arena. I didn't know it was located in like a sort of mall. Then, we got to play. Seeing all the Kentucky fans swarming around Wenyen and cheering him on was an incredible sight to see. I know he will love it there and I'm really glad he made the choice. The most incredible part of my experience though was today in the airport. It seemed like everyone had blue on and was coming up to Wenyen to talk to him. It was just incredible to see how many people cared about him and cared about Kentucky basketball. Obviously, being a Kansas fan its a lot of the same, but I was never close with any KU players so I would have no idea what it is like for them. All the Kentucky fans, were really nice people, and showed Wenyen a lot of love. I really enjoyed my first trip to Kentucky nation, and although I'll always bleed KU blood, there is now a place in my heart that will have to bleed some UK blood!

Very nice comments young man and I'm thrilled you enjoyed Kentucky, UK, Rupp and the BBN so much. Visit often. You'll always be welcomed.

Lol. they can never replace KU or even Wichita state but they are now my third team favorite. Unless they are playing KU or Wichita State then I'll definitely be cheering for them. Except for when Wenyen is there, then I'll be cheering for Kentucky over KU and Wichita state too.

If i were you, i would walk on at UK. Help Wenyen become the best versatile SF in college next year. Become a UK fan! Support Big Blue.

You'll enjoy the greatest college program. You can't beat that bro, and then you can make a nice NBA friend. ;-)

Gabriel is the most versatile player I have seen in a long time, would not be surprised to see him break the triple double drought at UK...

OP I am glad also you enjoyed your visit here. I have been to a lot of places but there is no place like Kentucky. Come back soon.

Regardless of how you are connected to Gabriel, I know as a person who has posted on this board for a very long time, you are one of the guys we won't forget. There are a handful of names that the long time posters will always remember, and you will be one of them. I hope you keep dropping by from time to time. Also if you can find anything out about Marques Bolden, let us know.

Keep posting. Have enjoyed somebody outside the blue mist giving input. Be careful the mist will envelop you.

Great to hear such kind and honest words from someone outside the UK family, especially someone who is connected so closely to a future UK star. Hope to continue to see you posting on here and, as another said, why not consider coming here as a walk on with Wenyen and sharing the experience, I'm sure it would be the experience of your life.

I agree. He can do it all. For any of you that where at the game, now you see, what I've been seeing that I don't view him as a post player at all. He spends most of his time on the perimeter.

He will be a nice player for sure!! His game actually reminds me of current Kentucky player Derek willis a lot...

I have to say, as someone who spends 8 hours per day trying to teach sophomores to write, I appreciate your sentence construction and storytelling. If for some reason you don't make it to hoop at a place like UK or KU, it seems like the academic side of things will still treat you just fine.

Lol, the good thing is I most likely will be attending a school for the academics/ basketball. Ironically, I am working on an AP Literature paper as I read this.

Well don't forget we have an honors college that is second to none
I went through 30 years ago and I have NEVER felt intimidated or the lesser of many Harvard, Stanford, Penn and Dartmouth grads I have known

Sorry, if I offended. I didn't mean it like that. Although, Kentucky I am sure is a pretty good school, there is nothing that compares to an Ivy league education if you want to be a lawyer... Which is what I want to do!
