Fifty years ago today

Ronnie Van Zandt was actually a fan of Neil Young and vice versa. That whole line was very tongue in cheek which many folks failed to realize. Hell that whole song has been misunderstood by people for years.

George Wallace thought he was being complimented in it and if you’ve ever dived into the lore of Van Zant and Skynrd you know that is not true

Would you believe this man has gone as far as tearing Wallace stickers of the bumpers of cars? He even voted for George McGovern for President.

I had the pleasure of seeing this version at the Racetrack at the Fairgrounds in Nashville, and they were fantastic!

I’m thinking it was in ‘76.

Easily my favorite band of all time.

It’s still hard to believe that everyone performing on the stage is now gone except for Artemus Pyle on the drums, and Leslie Hawkins on the left in the Honkette’s.
Leslie suffered big time facial injuries in the crash and is extremely lucky to have lived.
