Since early April, I have been working in Huntsville Alabama every other week. Prior to the start of football season, no one even noticed my UK clothing. Now everywhere I go, someone wants to talk college football.

Huntsville has a very diverse fan base. Alabama obviously rules supreme, then I’ve came across a lot of Auburn, Georgia, Ol’ Miss fans. I’ll be back down for the week of the Ol’ Miss game so should be interesting! Kinda fun being relevant down here!

Just went to a funeral in Huntsville. There is a pizza place in Athens cool area and great pizza. Only about 10-15 minutes from Huntsville. Worth the drive.

My in-laws lived in Madison for about 15 years. We used to go down there 3-4 times a year to visit them. Very nice town. You’re right, it’s a very diverse and well educated area. My father in-law passed away and my mother in-law now lives close to us, so I haven’t been there in 3-4 years.

Thanks for posting. I lived and worked in Huntsville from the summer of 1966 to Jan of 68. At that time there were probably more Yankee college grads that southerners in town. Especially if you counted the Boeing people who came from Seattle as Yankees.

I worked in a very large, converted cotton warehouse in the NW corner of town. The building had a do it your self paging system. You just dialed a special number and made you page/announcement that was broadcast all over the building. The Friday before the Iron Bowl, someone connected to the system and announced "Roll Tide Roll'. This was followed, in short order, by "War Eagle". After ten minutes or so of continuous noise, they had to turn the system off.

Grown into the largest city in Alabama. Throwing houses, apartment, duplexes, and manufacturing facilities in every soybean field they can buy. It’s a nice area, but no place like home!

IMO, Huntsville Alabama is one of the most underrated areas in the US to live. Great weather, recreational opportunities, employment and close to many areas of interest.
I think it was recently listed as the #1 city in the US to live. But I live in Georgetown, and I prefer going to Country Boy over anywhere down here lol

Moved from Huntsville to Nashville in 2019. Lived in area for 10 years. Must say, not sure I’m gonna last 10 years here. What a shitshow Nashville is becoming.
