I posted this elsewhere, but it's really sort of off topic there...

Vanderbilt, Duke, Wake Forest, UVA Northwestern, Boston College, Syracuse, Baylor, BYU, Stanford, Cal, Army, Air Force, Navy, Georgia Tech, Rice... this would be an interesting new conference after this all shakes out. Could they make it?

"Jumbo Ivy League"

West Div - Cal, Stanford, BYU, Air Force, Baylor, Rice, Northwestern, Vanderbilt

East Div - Duke, Wake Forest, UVA, Boston College, Syracuse, Army, Navy, Georgia Tech

Could these schools get along as a unit? Any prospect of them making real (no, not SEC) money?

Economic suicide?

Just don't see that group being able do get enough money from a TV deal. After the deal BIG10 just got no way Northwestern leaves, or Vandy. Have a feeling PAC12 is in major trouble as BIG10 has its eyes on a couple more teams.

When expansion finally settles down I think it ends up with 2 major conferences of 20-24 teams. Plus 2 conferences made up P5 teams that are just a step lower and have their own championships.

Just can't see all teams in P5 wanting to be a part of this player auctioning and instant player transfers. All the tampering going on now. I think that should ban you multiple post seasons. Not many going to be able to keep up with the Texas schools with NIL. FSU and Miami offering our players NIL deals to transfer while we are still playing and admitting it.

It's fun to talk about for speculation but no way any of those teams leave their major conferences.

What if Notre Dame was a member and the whole thing was built around them? Toss Rice. I mean, seriously, this looks like the Domers schedule now anyway, right? 🤣Some other nice angles (major markets, service academies) built in as well. Also, a pretty strong hoops unit, for whatever that's worth.

With regard to smaller market value schools clinging to super conference money, what chance is there of any of them being told to hit the bricks? I have no idea how conference charters/contracts address this prospect. Given the fact it hasn't happened yet, I'm assuming it can't happen as such... volunteers only. Any experts out there?

The only way that Jumbo Ivy works, is if Notre Dame joins a conference, and NBC is left without Notre Dame football and feel they have to pony up to get something, and with the Big 10, Big 12, ACC and SEC are taken by competitors and NBC/Universal wants to still have college football.

That's a fair and good point, but it would be like watching the Sun Belt or Mid Atlantic conferences. Games would almost have to be played on the weekends, but with the NFL on Sunday and Saturdays saturated with the big conference games that leaves Fridays and Thursdays. I just don't think they want to go head to head because it will be seen as a lesser product and unable to demand the money that the 2 big ones are getting.

Interesting point.

I’d say Tuesday/Wednesday night games would work.

Better than MACtion, and bettors are going to bet and watch!
