Leon didn't work directly for Cal but in Cal's first few years Leon's title was the Assistant Athletics Director for Men's Basketball. So while Leon reported to Mitch, he was still involved with the team. Similar to what Dewayne Peevy was doing his first few years at UK before he was promoted to Deputy Director of Athletics .

I know this because I knew Leon personally during that time. I worked for him twice during undergrad and grad school and was helping out with the program at that time. Leon helped me get a summer job working basketball camps and I worked thru the Tubby, BCG, and Cal's first summer while at UK. He was nothing but nice to me and a great guy. Seems like things have gone off the rails for him and I truly hate that. He treated me great and this is just a sad situation all the way around.

He always seemed like a good dude to me, I did not see this coming. I know his father who was a pastor passed in 2013, I don't know when all his troubles started though.
