Weren't people half-heartedly suggesting he could play in the tournament? I thought that meant he would have a little more mobility at this point.

What's the timetable for return to full basketball activities?

I may be wrong but I read on here it could be Jan. 2016 before he is 100%. Don't quote me on that its been a few days and I'm an ol fart.

I had Same surgery on Dec 3, just tried running. Dam that hurts. This rehab is Long. Then again I'm 35 not 20. He heals much faster with top notch trainers

I've had 3 ACL tears. It usually takes around 3-4 months to jog. 5th month to start jumping and sprinting. Then around 6 months you start cutting. The injury is severe but honestly is gym class heroes can't compare our rehab to a D1 athlete. He's probably rehabbing a 3 or 4 hours a day, unlike us. I doubt he will be 100% before the season starts but honestly he will get stronger with each week. I hope he doesn't have any setbacks

Recovery was 12 months like 10 years ago. It's not surprising to see someone come back 9 months after surgery today.

Sure, just ask Derrick Rose. It can happen quicker than 12 months. It can also take much longer even with all the time and money in the world and there is still a small percentage who never get back. Here's an interesting article.

Personally I hope we don't see him much until December. He has the best Docs. They'll know when he's ready.

Well I'm not sure about an ACL, but someone said 10 years ago recovery was a year, I just had a medial femoral condial allograft and that is no joke 12 months for full recovery. I know it's not a tear of a muscle, but still. It sucks lol.

Take the time you need, Alex. We'll be waiting for your power until you're ready. Then lets kick some major butt.

as per ksr post poythress says he is now jogging and beginning one-leg jumps. says he will be 'fine for pre season.'

Alex will be good to go come BBM. Sounds like he's really putting in the work to get back to 100%. I have faith he'll accomplish that.

Article on yahoo today about Poy. He is jogging already. He will be ready for the season!!

He's already posted pictures of him dunking on his Instagram. He walked around most of the year, post ACL, with no crutches. Rule of thumb is 9-12 months, but 6 is not uncommon these days, they're getting so good at this surgery and some peoples legs just distribute pressure a little differently and allow for easier healing. Hell, there's a few athletes with no ACLs at all.

Judging by his dunking and walking, and his general world class athlete status, I'd hope he'd be on the quick side of the estimated recovery.

(Aside: if you've ever seen Poy in person, he's truly a frightening athlete. Dude is a monster. If he doesn't get signed, he could be in under armour commercials. Hopefully this is the year the skills catch up with the insane physical gifts he was given!)
