ESPN should run more Coach K commercials

those things are gold! I don't think three seperate commercials is enough. Maybe they should have a special segment every day where coach k texts a different player he has in the NBA
and intermingle some samuel jackson credit card commercials---bliss.

i watch espn through slingtv so i don't get any of the annoying coach k commercials...just annoying 'hold' music during commercials

Serious question...what are those commercials promoting? Shoes, shirts, something else? Because I've just tuned them out as typical ESPN love slop...

Image if they had commercials of Coach Cal texting all his players in the NBA.
That actually would be a pretty damn funny one. Imagine him adding every player we have there in a text as they break away to another commercial...then they come back during the next break and he is still listing guys.

Coach K and Duke the Anti Kentucky

The commercial for cal would be priceless.

Cal asks Brad to text every player he has in the NBA good luck to start the season and it cuts to the game where everyone is on the bench right before lineups are announced. Then you just see every player on both teams get text alerts, check their phones at the same time and smile.

In case there is one or two who didn't understand that. It's saying everyone was a cal player

Of course it would have actual cal players like rose, Evans, Davis, MKG etc filling up both teams

It's glaringly obvious what's going on with ESPN and these commercials. I can't even imagine what Cal would have to do to get a commercial on ESPN like that.. And you know it's not some hold up on his side. Calipari is a brand and marketing genius.. you know he'd love to get 15-seconds of air time.

Just pathetic. I really can't wait until Coach K retires. Hopefully this turbulent season puts another nail in the coffin. The sooner college basketball can get back to a truly even landscape, the better.

When has the college basketball landscape ever been even?

Even in terms of treatment as a whole. The brackets, the commercials, the Cameron officiating. No one gets a pass like Duke does, with UNC being a close second.

So yes, when he's gone, I don't believe Duke will have the clout they have had for the last decade. And in that sense, the college basketball landscape will be more or less level.

Come on, you really think that outside of Duke that the landscape is level?

There is no one that gets what they get, so yes.

Obviously there's a difference between A mid-major and a blue blood. But that's because they put more into the program. I don't care about that. I don't care if Texas one day puts more money into their program. That's their call. I don't care if Kansas has a 4x harder arena to play in.. that's on them. These are things that any college can change, if they want to.

But Duke is different.

What would happen is the text would state; "The End"

ESPN is going to do whatever is in their best interest. If that's promote Duke then they will. If that's to promote Kentucky then they will. They have televised Kentucky practices and "combines" for petes sake. After K retires that's not going to change. So no, I'm not seeing how the landscape has ever or will ever be level. It's an entertainment industry.

ESPN and the media is only part of it. It's the NCAA, it's the Selection Committee, It's the Officials Committee..

And yes, that will change when he leaves. Because Coach K's clout will be gone, and chances are the next coach won't span half the game berating officials and scaring them into making calls.

Why would the officials be scared of K? And why would they give him calls if he just yells at them all game? Didn't Calipari actually threaten an official earlier this year?
