No love from ESPN in the post-spring power rankings putting Kentucky almost dead last in the conference behind teams like South Carolina, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and Arkansas. Ahead of only guess who, Vandy and Mizzou.

ESPN's rankings:

1. Alabama
2. Auburn
T-3. LSU
T-3. Florida
5. Georgia
6. Tennessee
7. Texas A&M
8. Arkansas
9. Mississippi State
10. Ole Miss
11. South Carolina
12. Kentucky
13. Vanderbilt
14. Missouri

Still a long, long ways to go for this program to be perceived as anything other than a cellar dweller. Only way to change the record is to win more games. Sick and tired of being mediocre. 6 or 7 wins is nice but we have to win more. Mediocre gets you no respect. Not when you're perceived as a basketball school already.

Might as well call off the games. Btw USC just lost two defensive linemen who were highly ranked in high school.

You got MSU, SC, UK, Vandy and Missouri all in the bottom 6. Those are the 4 teams we have to beat most years to do have the shot at a really good season, and most certainly a bowl. We play 3 of those 4 on the road this year. Going to be some grinders.

Interesting they have Auburn #2. Who knew. The Iron Bowl should be fun.

I think the funniest thing is that Temnessee is #6. That place will be a dumpster fire midseason. Butch may not make it to Halloween. They lose 2 RBs, best WR, Sr QB, best DE, best LB, 3rd round DB draft pick, and more.

You lose to Vandy, and USC and have multiple early season nail bitters against low level schools. But will lose all of your playmakers and improve? Right.

Not to mention they will start out with a L IMO. GT is a bad matchip for them. Especially with the loss of Barnett & Reeves-Maybin. Then they go to Florida, to Bama, to UK. Then got LSU & UGA. They could easily start out 2-3. I think 7 wins will be a good year with Tennessee. But will spell the end of Butch Jones.

It shows you what little thought or research went into those rankings. When you see an obvious miscalculation like that, you can toss out the entire article as not credible. I'll be interested in seeing what Phil Steele has to say this year.

I talk to people down south here and most do not respect us at all. They say last season was a fluke and had fluke games against Miss St and Vandy. That our true showing as a program is what the country saw against Georgia Tech.
They are predicting that next season teams are going to slow down Snell and when that happens we will be back to a 3-4 win team.

Thats what im told all the time by sec fans down south. We are gonna have to prove to everyone that we can win.

That's why they play the games. The experts haven't had the East right for the last 4 years. Few would know that all games stayed the same last year,
except UK had beaten Fla. Cats would have played Bama in SEC championship.

I'm in Alabama and I don't hear that at all. Most folks I talk to think we are headed in the right direction and see us as a tough W.

This will be the year they stand up and take notice!! Too many things headed in the right direction to stop this team from being the game changer. Coaching, talent, and depth; you need all three and we've got it. GBB!

^^^Not what I'm hearing.^^^
Still have some friends and former business connections thru Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana. Most think coach Stoops and his staff have UK on the rise. Most positives mention were over all SEC type depth, Snell, and o.line.

Live in the deep south as well and most folks I talk to respect the job Stoops is doing at KY. They know the mess he inherited and understand how hard it is to get a program like KY Football on a relevant SEC/National stage.

Until KY ends the streak to UF, beats UT more often, and makes stronger runs in the SEC East its going to be hard to convince national folks that KY Football is legit. Win and they will come and believe.

There is no doubt we have talent, are better in the trenches, have a star in Benny and are moving in the right direction. . . it does come down to how our QB play, so much revolves around that. Last two appearances (bowl game and spring game) Johnson struggled and that might be where some of the doubt comes from.

I think Stephen comes back and plays well and good to know we have capable back up but its sort of like a car. Can have a great new car with big engine but if the ignition switch is bad you aint going anywhere. Of course in our case we can hook up to our tow truck (Benny) and still do pretty good!
