Recruiting wrap: Final 11 of Duke, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, SMU, Stanford, Texas, Texas Tech and Virginia.

Performance: Sitting on the borderline of five-star status, Trae Young may have pushed himself into that category with his early winter play. Always known as a dangerous shooter from deep, Young has added to his play making for others, become more versatile as an off the dribble scorer and improved his defense all while retaining his deadly three point shooting

TJ thinks UK is in very good shape with Young. I tend to think more Duke, but ya never know. Always assumed Duke was gonna be all in for Duval.
Jason I could be wrong....but I've read on Devil's Den that Duke is not recruiting either Duval or Vanderbilt at all because of the low academic quality of their high schools. The Duke coaching staff doesn't believe they can get either guy passed threw the Duke admissions office. And honestly Ayton's high school is even shadier then the other two guys. They were having to ignore Bagley as well who used to go to Ayton's high school but he transferred high school's this semester and suddenly they are all over him like stink on manure right now.

These kids want to play for a seventy-one year old Coach K (K will be 71 at the end of the '18 season)?

At some point, kids might start resenting the moth ball stench. That and the fact that I don't see K buying into the OAD, rinse and repeat system for a fourth straight season. If he makes a real run at the title in 2017, I could see that being his last team.

I could also see him staying until his late 70s. I'm not sure he knows anything outside of Duke basketball.

I don't know too much about the 17 class yet, but from what I do know we need to get Ayton, Young, Duval, and Trent Jr. Then also another 5star big man. We don't know who'll be returning but what we do know is most all of the guards will be gone. Including Hawkins. So with Duval and Trent Jr. starting we'd be solid there. Then we'd have the luxury of having Young coming in off the bench and lighting it up from 3. But if we get those 4 guys like I said we'll still need another big man and maybe a SF. I have a question. I don't know anything about Vanderbuilt. Is he more of a SF or an undersized PF?

^thats not a lot to ask for is it?

We are kinda spoiled when we say we "have" to get a list like this

I have a feeling we will get a few guys back. Humphries and Wynyard could both return. Matthews might as well. Those three playing three years would not surprise me, especially considering who we bring in next season. Killeya-Jones is another possibility, especially if we get Bolden or Lee comes back and pushes him to the bench.

It's sounding like we are in good shape with Young, Vanderbilt, and Ayton. I think Vanderbilt is being recruited to come in and play mainly at the 3, but I could be wrong.

I don't think we will get Duvall or Trent, though. But like you, I don't know much about the 2017 class.

Young, Vanderbilt, and Ayton plus Matthews, Wynyard, and Humphries would give us a solid core. Add another shooter or two on the wing and we should be good to go.
