at their first NCAA school, and sign them to contracts - shorter for better players, longer for lesser players. Get control of the roster!

That's the only way out. THE ONLY WAY OUT. There's no other way to regulate this.

The wild west portal stuff is the worst thing about college athletics right now. People can say NIL but the portal is the one making them free agents every single year.

As usual, the NCAA will be behind on this as they always are. Bureacracies are always incompetent and greedy.

It will regulate itself.

The big NIL donors, who start to see donations going to collectives, who bring in players, who then transfer after 4 months (see Raymond Cottrell for an example), will start wanting to see ROI.

It won't be an "employment contract" per se, but the money will soon DRY UP if there isn't some semblance of a commitment to what you're buying.

NO school should be in the predicament we are right now. Yes, players should be able to transfer, but not to the detriment of the program itself.

I'm not saying I have the answer. I don't. But, a commitment should mean SOMETHING. I mean, we've lost our ENTIRE team. Sure, we'll use the portal and hopefully field a competitive team. But it's not out of the question, that we'll need walk-ons to ensure we have enough practice players (in case of injury).

Sure, things will work out after this season. But a model should be in place that accounts for this type of occurrence. As I've said before: Players went from having no leverage at all, to having all the leverage. The answer should be somewhere in between.

Rant over...for now.

NCAA making Billions, NCAA has to start giving the schools Portal and NIL dollars to spend.
