Emmitt Williams Wanting UK Offer

Love the fact Cal has made just getting an offer from U.K. a big deal. We heard the same thing from King.

Williams compared Coach K to God. I doubt he ends up anywhere but Duke.

Yeah he said something along the lines of "getting a call from K was like talking to God" smh. He said good things about Cal/UK too but I would be pretty surprised if he doesn't end up a Dukie. God's the type of guy that you don't turn down easily.

It would be pretty awesome to talk to God, but I don't know that I'd want to play for him. I'd rather play for someone who was a little more down-to-earth.

Fultz was a UK lean but we prioritized Monk. Nothing you can do in situations like that.

He said all summer his favorite school growing up was UK and getting a UK offer would be a dream come true. UK offers and then two weeks later he picks Washington.

He played UK. UK would've taken him.

Well I mean he was the number 1 player in the nation, would've been interesting to see a Fultz Monk backcourt. Better than Fox Monk? No one will ever know

How did he play UK?

We weren't getting Fultz plus our two guys. Fultz got hot once we had already chased Monk for years, and we saw him as a 2 instead of a 1. You'd be insane to have given up Monk just because a kid said UK was his dream school.

No one used anyone. There were just three elite players for two spots.

How did he play UK?

Because he did.

Pay attention.

UK would've taken him. They didn't have Fox or Monk yet. They never offered Fultz until he made it clear UK was his "dream school". UK offered. He picked another school. This isn't calculus. It's 2nd grade math.

The way I remember is Monk and Fox was already committed and signed when Fultz started making a big jump in the ratings. Fultz was a 5 star but was rated in the 20's until the end of the year.

So he played us to gain what? An offer from Washington? He committed late in the summer and didn't explode up the rankings until the next spring/summer.

He had come from unknown to top 25-30 but most people (except I think Meyer who was out in front of him being a star) would have still taken Monk. I don't even think Monk committed for a couple more months. It was during the season.

So how'd he use Kentucky? For what? We weren't even in his final 3.

Fultz had been saying since his sophomore year that he had grown up a UK fan and UK was his dream school. That's why his Crystal Ball was 100% UK. He started to blow up late in his junior year, and UK showed some token interest, but Cal's top targets at the wing were Monk and Miles Bridges, and I think he felt good about landing both.

Fultz was Plan B and I think he knew it and went elsewhere. That's not playing us. Monk and Fultz are both volume shooters and I think Cal felt there wasn't enough room for two guys like that on the roster. I think he was also completely blindsided by Miles Bridges committing to MSU.

Fultz played UK for an offer after a whole summer lobbying for one just to say he had it then went elsewhere almost immediately.

I agree with you on that. Would be a lot of pressure and if you got in his dog house it would be pure hell. It would be great to play with his son though. He could make some miracles happen and would have no problem sacrificing himself for the team. And he'd be great for the after party with his wine making abilities.

You know I bet Luke Maye doesn't hit that buzzer beater if God's coaching and his son is playing D.

He should know ky basketball is the higher authority.
