The long-simmering dispute between University of Louisville President James Ramsey and dissident members of its board of trustees boiled over Thursday, as he lashed out at his critics and the press for challenging his compensation and deferred pay for top staff.

"All I have is my integrity … and I can't let people attack my credibility," Ramsey said bitterly at a special meeting of the board that he called. "Nobody stood up for me so I am standing up for myself."

And then of course came the ultimate elite pointy head reply, the attempt to shush them.

As the meeting grew more heated, Ramsey challenged the trustees who are insisting on more information about compensation, asking, "Is there a way that this is going to help us graduate more students?"

The millions of dollars he and his two assistants gave themselves sure as heck would help to graduate more than a few students.

Hopefully the normally gutless CJ will keep digging into this disgusting story of academic greed.

I would like to have 1/10% of what money has been embezzled and misappropriated under Dr. Ramsey's tenure at UL. Seems like every few months something or another is uncovered. Although nothing ever comes of it!

Look into the nucleus foundation. I posted this before, but meh. Basically, one of the dummy foundations. They bought theyre building at 300 E Market, , then sold it back to UofL for millions. Since it was a 501(c)3, nono profit, they couldnt show profit, so the money went into the president and others pockets as salary expense. The also launder federal money through various dept. It comes out clean (or unrestricted) common practice. A school or dept gets a grant with restricted fund, they launder it to make it unresetriced to use that money against matching requirements of other grants. Its quite good.

That is because the CJ and many of our local politicians are gutless. Just look at how they fall all over Jurich. Has the CJ even reported that Mitch Barnhart was voted the national AD of the year? Seriously, have they? LilBro (jurich) rapes the tax payers via the Yum center deal and what does the CJ report? LilBro has most profitable Athletic Department in all the land.

It is disgusting the way that the CJ covers for LilBro and its illegal activities.

Fortunate not to have to live in Louisville watching all that ongoing corruption. Then you look at Ramsey and his ethics, he has exactly the type of people in place that are similar to his outlook. Ramsey sounds just as shady as the AD, the coaches, and the minions that approved to pay Ramsey that ridiculous amount of $.

Ramsey's justification for his actions: well, other universities are doing it. Sure sounds like an AFAM defense to me.

His little outburst is an attempt to get people to stop digging maybe ? Stomp your foot and act appalled that anyone would question his integrity is a sign in my mind. Control thru terrorism ?

This is like when a person has to constantly say "trust me." Well if someone could trust you, you wouldn't have to say it.

no wonder SEXtino kept his job after the Sypher scandal..with Comb Over in charge laundering millions and getting paid under the table,..what a slimy place uavel is..:(

Ah, the moral goings-on of public funded institutions and their virtuous dog and pony processes of justice and independent verification. It pains me to say this in this thread and on this board, as indeed I am a long-suffering UK fan since early childhood, but it is only those institutions who can enable themselves to fail in proportion to egregious management that may assume an added sense of morality. Personally, when I read crap like this, I find myself wishing public universities could fail no differently than Enron failed. A university president's most egregious mismanagement would never be considered as corrupt as Ken Lay simply because the outcome could never be as bad.

Jack Conway won't do anything because Louisville is a democratic stronghold and he's running for governor. I doubt the state government will ever look into any wrong doings at UL no matter who is in office R or D.
