Winning, or losing one more. I hope I' m wrong, but as long as they play with heart, I really like this team and will get excited for every game. Ultimatly, no matter how much we come together, im afraid we lose in march to any quality team that has a dominant big. Where that game lands in our bracket will determine how far we go in the tourney imo.

Well if we don't get these corrupt monkey refs, then I say we have a chance at anything.

Frankly, I thought the game was called pretty fair for being a road game. They did have Perry Ellis on the bench with 2 fouls for most of the 1st half you know. I agree, there was a disparity in fouls, and some bad calls went against us, but that always happens when your bigs lack strength, no matter what the team. That is in fact, my point. Without a dominant big man, you get dominated in March when you face one. WHile some of our fouls were bogus, many of them occurred when our weak bigs tried to recover from getting beat by their man.

I agree the game was called pretty fairly in the first half but second half, when we built an 8 point lead, things changed. I'm not saying that we didn't foul, I am saying that many push offs and contact driving to the basket by Kansas were not called.

I can agree with that, but I believe the weakness of our bigs was more of the reason than homer refs.

Getting to Louisville regional is so important, helps us get to another final four

A lot will depend on seeding and match ups in the NCAA tournament. I don't like our odds to get to the Elite 8 if we are a 4 or 5 seed in the same region as Oklahoma or North Carolina. Those are the 2 teams I would like to avoid.

Would really like to get into a top 4 seed and avoid a 5/12 match up you just never know about those 12 seeds. 3 seed would be ideal but that probably went by the boards with the loss last night without going on a monster run to end the season.

In 2014 it is true we made it to the Finals with an 8 seed but that team had so much talent and proved it on the tournament that they were playing below their talent level all regular season long and finally came together in the big dance plus the match ups fell right in the tournament until we blew it against UCONN.

We've done no worse than the Elite 8 every year UK has made the NCAAs with Cal at the helm. Don't go too far out on that limb.

In a normal year, I'd agree... but this year everyone pretty much sucks. Just take a look at the top contenders and ask yourself if you'd be confident in UK beating them on a neutral court come March ->

Oklahoma- great 3pt shooting team, but has a bunch of saloon doors on defense. I'd love that matchup for us.

UNC- Quintessential UNC. Soft, don't play any defense and it seems like Paige has actually regressed.

Kansas- Think we saw yesterday first-hand how many flaws that team has. I'd confidently pick UK over them in March.

Then who? UVa? Iowa State? Texas A&M? Maryland? MSU?

I'd like our chances against any of those teams. So yeah- normally I'd say our ceiling is E8/FF ala 2011, but this year? We have as good a shot at winning it all as probably 12-15 other teams.

Although losing to Kansas when we had a chance to win stings, it means nothing in terms of the SEC. Right now, Kentucky needs to win the SEC. That possible outcome is within the teams' control but that means no more losses. Then if we also win the SEC tournament, there will be a good placement in the NCAA tourney and a shot at the Elite 8. However, this is not a great Championship type Kentucky team. The weakness of our front court is problematic. There are other issues as well which maybe will be solved, maybe not. It does appear though that the team is improving and maybe with the confidence continuing then more improvement will occur. As others have pointed out, as well as myself in other posts, the good news is there is no great teams out there this year. I just think rebounding and the basic fundamentals are what will ultimately cost us and I don't know that there is a solution unless some miracle occurs with Skal.

No matter what, ending in Louisville during the tournament is very unlikely.

Sad sweet 16 is a ceiling weeks ago.. Not changing my mind as of yet

While I believe that OU and UNC are the two best teams at this point I don't see anyone being an overwhelming favorite to win the title. Therefore, I think this team has just as good a shot as anyone to reach a FF. Not predicting that it'll happen but don't count them out.

making willis a starter and using both skal & poy differently on offense has a made a difference with spacing. offense should continue to get better

team is still growing, and we've seen this before in 2014 and 2011. and uk may have the best guard in the country

i'm encouraged

I can agree with that, but I believe the weakness of our bigs was more of the reason than homer refs.
