Before the 90s, UConn was really nothing. Calhoun got them to the Elite 8 three times before winning it all in 1999. Then got another one in 2004 then 2011 and Ollie took over and got them one in 2014 (duh). Those four titles in 15 years is pretty wild for a team that came out of nowhere.

Duke had success before Coach K with some Final Four and Runner-up appearances. When Coach K did win his fourth title in 2010, which was 19 years after his first one. They also went to the Final Four 12 total times under k including seven trips in nine years.

What's impressive to me is when UConn gets to the Final Four, there's a good chance they're winning it all. They have been to five Final Fours and won four championships. K's Duke team has won it all five times out of 12 trips with rosters that have featured much better talent.

Whose success impresses you more?

Tough one to call. Longevity would point towards Duke. Lighting in a bottle would favor UConn. Guess it would depend on preference. Question: K took Duke (lol) to seven Final Fours in nine years. How many titles did they win of those seven?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's two. The years they won back to back, 1991 and 1992. Two out of seven. Underachiever. [eyeroll]

I am biased but to me UConns run is more impressive. Mostly due to the fact we have won all this ships with much fewer MCDonald all Americans compared to Duke.

UConn is also 8-1 all time in final four games our only loss was in 2009 when we played against Mich St in Michigan. We are also undefeated in championship games.

Lastly our championship runs have been through tougher teams/paths.
