Draft Express Latest Mock Draft (ESPN Insider)

But people have been crying for years about all of our freshman leaving, when the truth is, all the ones leaving have been getting paid.

I agree that there have been a few sophomores leave who should have stuck around.

I said last year that college basketball is all about trends. The slope is always slippery. All it takes is one recruit and it can change your entire program. All it takes is one recruit to sink your program. The trends man, it's all about the trends.

I felt a trend coming in this situation. I still do, and so far it's coming dangerously close to a reality.

I think PJ is done here...Maybe JV too..I'm good with Travis and WG that with Hagans reclass is a top5 team

What one recruit is going to sink your program?

By the by, we’ve slipped a bit in recruiting and performance. It’s unfortunate, but we’re also a long way from sunk.

No I mean a single recruit can change the dynamic of your program. Like Mashburn for example. College basketball is funny, when one player does something it can catch like wildfire.

Hard to believe people think any of these decisions are just isolated and not to be seen again. It's just not the way it usually works.

Yeah I get that one recruit can change things for the better. But you also said one recruit could sink a program. Would have to be quite a scandal.

I think he already has, trying to bring in Travis no matter the returnee's. I think that loom's large going forward. Cal will not be pawed at any longer thank you...
Cal can recruit all day and all night and then some.

What exactly would you have him reconsider? You can't help stupidity when all 3 wasn't projected to leave.

I would make an example out of the three of them going forward. I'd tell them not to become desperate to leave, especially after just 1 year. This isn't a Bird in the hand situation.. this is a bird in a hand AND 40 in the bush right in front of you.

Cal is very progressive in many aspects of his job. However there are some areas he's a little slower to respond. He said last year that he didn't like the grad transfer thing but sounds like he's going after Travis. A little tweaking by Cal would be fine by me.
I believe he was down on grad transfers from mid majors. I am just guessing that because he was definitely interested in Cam Johnson last year as a grad transfer and now, Reid Travis. All Cal can do is recruit the players he feels are best for this program and at this time of year, give them the best advice he can about staying or going. He has , to my knowledge, done just that each and every year.

I'm simply amazed that a player who could not be in games at crunch time while playing in college is now a Top 40 player in the country outside of NBA'ers?

Did Daillo show anything spectacular? He had 2-3 dunks and a couple of rebounds all season that matched his vertical hype.

I fire my GM if Diallo is drafted period. He may be the most lopsided athlete versus bball player we have ever had. Richard Madison is Larry Bird compared to Hamidou.....
I said POTENTIAL not past performance.

Not sure why, but towards the end of the season this occurred to me out of the blue. You'd think, given his athleticism, that Hami would have quite the highlight reel. Even if he turned out to be not quite the player we hoped, surely you'd have a bunch of tomahawks and alley-oops. But.....no really. He had the one I remember against Buffalo in the NCAAT. And that's about all I recall. I remember at least two times when he had a break away by himself, and you're thinking here we go - and his ankle buckled both times.....

Ok.... I wasn't disagreeing with you.

If he learns to shoot as a SG might help. Developing a smidget of Bball IQ could go a long way too maybe.

No way I draft the kid. A player is a player and if he cant play in college why can he know play in the pros?

It is one thing to be able to excel and expand your game in the NBA but those guys actually still played in college games.

HD was allowed to start and then hardly played when it counted, at least it seemed that way during conference play.

Was it versus Louisville that he had the baseline dunk to start the game? Not many thats for sure.

It's ok to disagree with me, my wife does it all the time.
I was suggesting he has tools that can't be purchased at home depot.
A 40ish draft pick is not like a top 5.
There will be no pressure on a gm if he picks HD in the 40's.
Hope he proves a lot of people wrong and becomes the player i believe he can.

Again, I dont disagree.

I just dont see ANY pro player not being able to play against Vandy in crunch time but can suit up versus GSW.....

And I absolutely hate it when a player who has every reason to return leaves without a 1st Round guarantee.

I understand the Twins (Booker/Ulis and time frame) and Ulis (no way he gets any more valuable).

Lamb and Dakari, I wasnt happy with, although Lamb did win a Natty. AND... both of these guys played when it counted.

HD? No way. I'm not happy about WG leaving but at least he was on the court.

Of course Joe some of this may just be me being super selfish too....

I do not like him leaving but when I tried to make him stay he looked down at me and said no.
I do believe Mr Diallo has the tools to be a good nba player.

I was conflating situations. Just meaning when one player takes a leap, like leaving without guarantees, it can have a ripple effect.

Positive or negative.

For his sake I hope you are right.

SG without a shot, not a great dribbler or passer. Rebounds when he wants to.. could be a great defender. Low IQ and does not take advantage of his physical gifts.

I see a highlight video kid, Cal said the NBA stand for No Boys Allowed. He will be given plenty of time to improve im sure.

He must be fairly decent or he would not have played at UK .

He didnt play when it counted.

Cal could not trust him through most of the conference schedule.

What other NBA player logged less than 20 mins per game in over half the conference schedule?

Every game he played in counted.
Did he make mistakes ? Yes as a freshman we can expect that.
I am saying the problems he experienced can be fixed.
But the physical gifts he has are not teachable.
The nba drafts on potential and he has a 5 gallon bucket full of that potential stuff.

I'm not even sure he will be drafted. They draft on potential yes, but they're not going to throw away millions just because he can jump in practice. Another year could have fixed that.

He will be improving no matter where he plays.

I don't think that's a guarantee. Players lose confidence all the time and hit a hard spot. Sometimes they don't make it, and sometimes becoming more mature and playing well in college can substantially make you a better player.

Diallo will have some cash somewhere either way, hope he structures himself because there's no one around to make him now.

All I can do is hope he has nice future and wait on madness peace man .
