Big loss for us

The way these UK "fans" are bashing Drew Barker on Twitter I don't blame these guys at all for going elsewhere.

Im not saying letting him move on was a bad idea. Im just curious as to what level of impact its had.

The last half of the season & a good part of the off-season has been one huge cluster-xxxx. My guess, the news gets much worse before next week's signing day.

The reason this class hasn't finished the way we all have wanted to, is mainly due to the fact we lost 6 games in a row.

We lost Brown, sure. But losing 6 games in a row is a much worse look. Especially when a few of those games we should have closed out and won.

Our football performance was horrendous the last 6 games of the season, that's going to have consequences. In year one, maybe you get away with that..... But not in games 19-24. It was embarrassing, and will have an effect on recruiting.

This class just went from a step back from last year to falling off the grid. From losing 6 in a row, to having your recruiting class fall apart, to what appears to be legal trouble for your future stars. Really disheartening times for this program. I know people will try and spin this in a good way but it is obvious that this team is in trouble.

You think so? I hadn't noticed.

Hell I'm as optimistic as they come and there's no way to spin this unless UK signs a bunch a 4 stars on signing day. 2015 has just been one disaster after another.

Starting to look like that star recruit QB is gonna be a bust, at least at Kentucky. God I hope not, my fandom can't handle anymore disappointment.

First time since Joker was here where I'm feeling like the wheels are coming off. But hey, maybe we do close strong, it surely can't get much worse.

No doubt the 6 game slide at the end made negative recruiting way too easy. Especially considering our track record.

Very well could. Especially if the past few days have been any indication.

The really irritating thing to me is that while most schools are putting the final touches on this year's class & are already working on future classes, here we are trying to stop what was a top 30 class from falling completely off the charts. To hell with it, I'm hitting the hay.

This puts us tied at #49 with Minnesota with 1215 points. We are going the wrong way and in a hurry. Ever since Stoops and crew got their raises the football program has went straight downhill. The only positive since has been retaining Morrow.

This program is at a cross roads. Next year will write the script. Between bar fights and our inability to hang on to our commited players, next year will be a challenge. Stoops needs to pull a rabbit out of the hat.

This is the first truly upsetting news to drop since "The Decision" Somebody better get to work on Cooper and get this situation stabilized ASAP.

Sucks, but I don't think we should cancel our schedule over losing them.

What is more concerning to me is that we failed to show up ready to play in several of the last six games. About the only two games of the last six that the team even seemed mildly interested in were State and UofL. That is a big concern.

This is very disappointing news.

Through 2 years Stoops has earned a TBD for how good a coach he is, as he needs time to get his guys in there. He has not done anything in two years to scream "good or great" coach on the football field in any consistent manner but has been ok to solid at times, but his recruiting was very very very good last year and was doing well again this year until recent events. I will now say TBD on this year's class, but as of right now, it is not a good look.

UK will be fine. They already have done well and signing day will be many loses and surprises. Grief over 2 players will make you crazy. Remember uk got two Nebraska recruits they never expected to get and both are in areas of need.

Rankings are fine but UK will never crack the top 20 so who cares. Not a lot of difference between number 100 and 250 in football.

We are in that middle ground of mediocrity and getting over the hump in recruiting because of the playing time pitch. We could offer immediate playing time the last couple of years but now we have enough talent competing that it is not as close to a guarantee as it was. Then you throw in the 6 game losing streak and missing on a major recruit that could have kept everybody else on board. Stoops must win some games next year and get us to a bowl game or we will spin back down to the bottom of the recruiting list for even in state players.

Go 2-10 and end up with #17 class

Lose 5 games in a row and class totally collapses.

No I don't believe it. It's got way more to do with other things than losing 5 in a row. Get a grip people.

I have to agree that Damien's decision killed momentum and got the ball rolling for the decommitts. He is public enemy #1.

Neal Brown leaving, Naviar hiring, Harris punking, Marrow flirting and losing to UofL have thrown the program into reverse.

It sucks.

Need mojo. Mojo will be squarely placed on our win total to turn this around. The problem is - reversing downward trajectory is rarely done.

I think Bama (and SECW) getting pwned in Bowl season hurt our recruiting pitch as well. By simple association with the SEC legitimized our status. When they pulled back the curtain and what was revealed was that the SEC was not as elite as promised.

Overall, this class is not going to be helpful to the big picture.

I still back this staff.Had a rough week. I am sure they can flip a few this week and still have a top 40 class or so. Remember guys we used to be in the 60 area in Rivals. Just tough when 4 guys flip so close to signing day.My bet is on Stoops & Vince to close strong

No other way to spin it but without some major last minute surprises, this class is going to be a disaster. I hope Stoops and company can pull some major rabbits out of the hat come next Wednesday. Can't even think about competing in the SEC by pulling in 49th ranked classes.

So far the only thing that Stoops and Staff have had going for them is a win over USC JR and two good recruiting classes. Coaches got extensions and Marrow got huge raise based on this . Obviously this year's recruiting will set us back significantly. If we do not win at least 7 games this next season then likely recruiting will continue to tank and we will continue to be a mediocre program under Stoops. The opportunity is there but time has run out for on the field production and 2015 is a make or break year I am afraid.

Have too wonder if all the negative stuff about the BB twins have anything to do with it. As good as they are, fan's are complaining.

we are recruiting some of the best players in the country, and against some of the best teams in the country, we are an up and coming team, if you were a highly recruit where would you go.
if we win 6-7 games next year we can compete against the best, this staff has done more to improve this program then any staff in 40 years, at least this staff isn't afraid to go against the best.

Right now the thought of losing some of last years recruited class is even more disturbing to me than the thought of losing some players that were only committed and we had a chance to sign.

I hope the coaching staff doesn't panic and sign a lot of players to take up SS that have little chance of competing in the SEC. If the quality is not there lets wait until next year. The scuttlebutt I am getting is that the instate talent might be the best ever in Kentucky next season. Keep the SS and back sign next year if we cant get quality players.

Lokk, this sucks. They were both very good pick-ups for us. We lost to a team who finished the past 2 seasons ranked in the top 5. We didn't lose these kids to Vandy. Until we prove the recruiting leads to sustainable success on the field, we are going to lose kids to better programs. It's been a tough week, but we're not the first program, and we won't be the last, to lose recruits and to have off the field distractions. This is where Stoops and Co. need to earn their money.

The decommitment of David Dowell is the first decommit that actually bothered me. I think he has the potential to be quite special. The Provitt/Hamilton swap I think was an upgrade. In the long run I believe Provitt will be the much better player. The Westry / Dinson swap is a "wash" in my opinion, Westry is the higher rated and bigger prospect, but Dinson projects as a lockdown corner. With both Mike Edwards and Darius West coming off their redshirt years I think we are fine in the secondary.

The bottom line is this is what happens when you recruit against the "big dogs". Auburn, OSU and Michigan State are currently among the "elite" of college football. I hate losing kids to anybody, but luckily gone are the days we lose kids to Sun Belt teams. Let shake this off and keep swinging for the fences. I think we will be surprised how the next 7 days turn out.

Plus it's easier to flip someone once they've already flipped once before. Don't believe they had Ohio St. offers, but saw they're lower rated teammate get one(Stump). Also, they may believe they're upgrading: Mich. St. > UK > Northwestern. Who Knows?
