Doug Gottlieb praises Calipari's "renaissance"; calls Kentucky the "most dangerous" team in the tournament.

Pretty much. The other 527 NBAers he had weren't even enough. It took Anthony Davis to drag Cal to a championship.
Davis and NBA lockout uncertainty to get Jones and Lamb back. If Jones leaves in 2011, we are 1 player short again which has honestly been the story of Cal’s tenure…some elite talent usually derailed by one glaring position weakness on roster makeup.

Cal needs a second title if he wants his college legacy to be in the upper echelon and not be known for ultimately underachieving with the most NBA talent ever…that NBA talent he has accumulated is ultimately a double edged sword legacy wise.

I hope we go all the way and I’m perfectly capable of eating crow if it comes to that. But before we get real serious about the middle finger talk let’s get out of the first weekend for a change why don’t we.

AD yes, but Randle and Towns also.

Much of Cal’s success came from signing those 3. Three of four Final Fours and the 1 title.

I think his overall college legacy is still upper echelon. He's not on Mount Rushmore, but he wouldn't be even if he won two more titles. He has the same number of titles using the one and done elite talent approach as Coach K did: one. It's an approach that seems really good at getting your team to at least the Elite 8 but makes it harder to actually win the whole thing. That stacked Zion team didn't even make the Final Four.

Cal chose this approach, and he's gotta live with its strengths and weaknesses, but I'll never buy into the fact he underachieved with any of those teams. Some of the best teams in the history of college basketball didn't win titles due to the nature of the tournament.

Him and Pitino are the only coaches to have Final Fours at three schools. And he's had success across three different decades of college basketball.

When 8 losses in the regular season is a renaissance then you know things have sucked for a while.
Eight losses and more specifically the three consecutive home losses among them is what actually set off Cal's "detractors" this season. The response was groundbreaking because the accomplishment was groundbreaking. Lately literally every season he is breaking some serious new ground in terms of sucking, one way or another, and then he and his guard dogs want to blame the fanbase when we get annoyed by that. Nevertheless the griping is NOT generally because anyone has anything at all against Cal personally. It's the fricking results.

I'd be pissed at ME if I woke up and found out I'd turned in Cal's results the past three or four seasons. I'd be like, "wait———say that again? The part about me only winning one total tourney game in two seasons with the greatest college rebounder of all time? And I didn't even apologize to the fans for it? And I still took the eighteen million dollars? Boy I must be some kind of extra dirty footwear-raping nasty motherf——seriously: WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME??????"

It ain't about Cal.

Please just win. Especially for these kids.

Oscar was a great rebounder, but is far from the greatest college rebounder of all time. Also, his offensive deficiencies limited the team because his rebounding mandated his presence on the floor, yet he caused us to play a different offense than what complimented the other players. I'm not criticizing Oscar, he was great, and without him we would have really sucked 2 years ago. But to annoint him the greatest rebounder of all time is just misinformed.

Twins. Take Aaron Harrison away and they miss BOTH of those Final Fours. Everyone remembers the obvious during the improbable 2014 run, but he hit a bomb against Notre Dame when UK was down 6 late in the 2015 E8.

LOL, take away five or six players from any coaches better teams and the results would be totally different.
