Does Cousins get championship ring?

Word is they plan to sign him again next season and was already talked about among both parties, barring something unexpected.
Makes sense. Lebron, AD, and Rondo all want to play with him. AD doesn't want to play center and Howard won't cut it long term.

Why won't Dwight Howard cut it long term? I mean, he did prove to be a non-issue team chemistry wise and might sign elsewhere, but he clearly helped the Lakers.

Hope Boogie does in fact sign with the Lakers...glad to hear he will be eligible for a ring.

Cousins signed with the Lakers and was with the team, although he never played a regulation game. Even after he was cut the Lakers allowed him to continue to use the facilities etc. so he's certainly in good graces.

Normally for someone who never actually played any games for the team I would say he shouldn't get a ring. But at the end of the day it's the team's decision and if Anthony Davis wants it to happen, I'm sure he can make it happen.

FWIW, regardless of whether he receives a ring or not, I'm not planning on adding him to the list of UK players who won an NBA championship.

Hes just well past his prime is all. He's a great bench player for a championship caliber team. IF DeMarcus is healthy he is a star starting caliber center for a championship caliber team. They can also get him cheap so it's really a low risk high reward situation. Cousins really wants to be part of a winning team as well so it's good for him.
Considering how skilled he is and a good shooter at the 5, if he can stay healthy he can play longer than most bigs and have a lot of good years of winning left. Of course that's a big "if".

Other teams may offer him more $....thing with Dwight..he played his role really well and then in Game 5 went full Dwight...horrible inbounds pass that resulted in Heat hitting a 3, then he flagrantly fouled Butler on and 1--Heat hit a 3 for 6 pt trip. So in a 1 pt back and forth last 2 min game--Howard gave away 9 pts in 1st Half--which resulted in him being benched for Game 6.

Dwight was great all year for Lakers and thought his minutes/frame wore down Jokic but we'll see if Clippers/Warriors would be willing to throw more yrs/$ at him. He really enjoyed this stint with Lakers and loves playing with LeBron and AD, but finances always win out in end.

If he does get a ring though, you might want to make a note of it and provide a brief explanation of your reasoning as to why he isn't included. It might save you the trouble of having to answer the question "Why isn't Cousins listed with the champs? He has a ring!" over and over and over. :)

By the way, I love your site. Thank you. You're a credit to the entire sport. :)

Yeah, I don't think I need to do that. The page is listing players who won a NBA championship, not a list of everyone who received a ring.

Nothing against Cousins, he's one of my favorite players. I hope he does get a ring from the Lakers. But I'm sure he would agree he'd rather win one for a team he actually played on. Hopefully he'll get that chance next season.

Did Gerald Fitch get a ring in 2006 with the Heat? I know he played before getting traded.

I hope Boogie makes a comeback. If healthy, he can ball and is a great teammate. The Ky way.

Fitch played earlier in the season but his last game with the Heat was February 9. He wasn't on the roster during the playoffs.

Don't know if he was awarded a ring or not.

JP, your website serves us all and is FREE. So no one should object.
Big Cuz for certain would agree.

As a competitor, why would you claim a championship ring when you had no part in winning it?
He was still using the facilities. I wonder if he played any scout team during practice, how involved he was in team meetings, workouts etc since it is assumed he is resigning w the Lakers. If he was practicing against the starters and working out/drilling w the team than I think he deserves a ring bc better competition in practice keeps the starters sharp.

However, no doubt he'd cherish a ring that he directly contributed to in a significant role more than this one.

Join Lakers next year, come off the bench.

Would be great!

Would have to really get fit, improve quickness, but in general he should be able to provide more than Howard and McGee
