I noticed on the KSR website that 3 of 4 picks this month on Bamba to Texas are from Duke insiders.Seems like it was something like this with Bolden last year.Do you think they really know something?

I think they are just guessing like everyone is because Bamba has really kept things quiet.I remember one of them changing their Bolden pick the very next day. When an announcement is set is when I pay attention to the crystal ball.

I don't know. I don't have a good feeling. The few people you can trust on here say Texas has a legit chance. Also, a person I really trust on Twitter says it's not helping our chances that some fringe fans have been so vocal about Diallo's decision.. because Bamba is watching and hearing things from Hami who's a close friend of his.

I don't buy the latter of this post for a second; and that's nothing against you. No way some fans reaction to Diallo (albeit stupid) is going to run him off.

They are in the dark like everyone else. Bamba has a strong relationship with some incoming freshman at UK so we have a buzz (plus there Cal, players first, the NBA track record, etc.). It's also rumored Bamba developed a great relationship with Smart while on under 18 team - so it's logical to think they've got a decent shot.

So yes, I can see them trolling in the fact they've got to pick somebody so they might as well pick against U.K.

Those Duke guys all started picking UK at the end last year right before Bolden picked Duke. So yeah, this is very likely a troll move.

Wouldn't be the first time some of our screechers have affected the program negatively. They are also absolutely convinced they are a positive influence right up the the point some major flatuence on their part comes under suspicion. Then they fall back to the 'no way anybody reads the board' and if they do, they don't pay attention or some other spineless cop out.

I think it's highly probable that some parents and recruits are aware of the board. I think that watching our players, recruits and coaches publicly gutted and castrated will not positively influence every recruit. This is lilkely particularly true of one that might be looking for a point of distinction between programs that are equally attractive. Does the program bashing hurt in every case? No. Has it hurt us ever? Almost certainly. Some have talked about Diallo as though the kid is a con artist that intended to exploit the Cats. How could that EVER be a positive factor for the Cats.

Que the screeching Cal and Diallo bashers to protest their innocence and irrelevance.

Yep! Hami and Diallo are really tight. Hopefully Diallo realizes that it's just a small percentage of fans that will post stuff on twitter and such. Also, he needs to understand why fans would be frustrated with the situation. He never played a minute for UK, so fans are going to think that he used us. It's just the way it is. I wonder if the fans' reaction to him declaring helps him make the decision to leave.

Agreed. If I'm a top talent, I'd rather have 95% of the largest and best fanbase in America FOR me than 10 or 15 people at Texas acting like they care and aren't waiting for spring football to start.

Problem is, 5% of a million is 50,000 assholes. We are so big, that many jerks can look like everybody cause the good fans don't do stuff like that.

Duke guys going off the info Andrew Slater gives them--and Slater is friendly with the PSA Cardinal progam. So they are basing it off that.

Posers who promise and act cocky in recruiting on social media and Fan sites tend to love to drum up the "possible reasons" and place blame as to why they could be wrong--stress "COULD" because that's what saves their ass and makes them look "connected" without criticism. So no matter what player does they were right. lol

Interesting timing. A few guys who have changed their prediction on Bamba and have good ties to a very good/well informed reporter--but one who isn't always correct, and all this happens now. Hmm....seems interesting to bring this up in same day.

Look-the key to receiving good info is that you often don't have anything to say-good or bad. Sometimes it's as simple as guys have a harder time saying no or making a decision. Sometimes it's a fight within the inner circle on what is best for the player's future. At end of day, you get guys you are supposed to get (Cal states that repeatedly) and the staff is far more aware then me, CoachX11, or social media "gurus" who seemingly are same people I've had a few UK guys direct me to and I laugh at the pattern---confident to point of defiant when questioned about UK's position, then it's mocking opposing views, then when you get closer to decision making time, a "twist" comes around to cover their genius as they could be wrong-because you know--they don't know anything more then what they pay for or hear through grapevine.

Wish you all luck with Bamba, Diallo returning, and adding whomever else, but just shaking my head at the crap flying around. Can tell the season is over because there is some serious bull$hit being spewed to cover the reps of people who aren't directly involved and want to pretend to be. [eyeroll]

I don't think the Crystal Ball people use their picks to troll. The site measures analysts' time-weighted prediction accuracy, which functions as a credibility score. I think these guys want to be right, and many of them are right much more often than they're wrong. That's why it is concerning that all four of Bamba's most recent picks have him to Texas.

Still, it's incomprehensible. Bamba choosing Texas would be like the nation's #1 wide receiver choosing Kentucky when his older brother plays quarterback for Alabama.

Unfortunately, very true. However, if they get bent out of shape by that 5% (when it is clear the vast majority are behind them 100%) so much that it affects their decision on where to play, then maybe they shouldn't come here anyway. It would be nice if we didn't have to justify our fan base because of those morons, especially since most of them are probably "adults".

But, if you watch/follow any college basketball, it is clear we have THE BEST fan base in the country.

Trouble is the good ones don't scream lunacy from the top of the mountain. The 50K idiots do. The recruits don't see the blue mist, they are tuned into twitter and other social feeds, as are the morons.

I don't worry about the majority of recruits. I do worry about the ones that have moved on to secondary factors in making their decision.

Who knows. After the Bolden recruitment last year, maybe Cal is trolling Duke. Maybe he has Bamba insinuate positive things about Smart and UT to Capel and company, who in turn, report to Slater.
