As we know it's common for bad news to come out on Friday, so it makes sense that if anyone is leaving it would come out today.

Not sure anyone would be transferring as SKJ would be the only one who would even think about it but I doubt we hear anything before the school year ends.

Well if he is transferring the decision would need to be made soon. Schools have roster spots that fill up that why they are announce now

They would not hold a press conference to announce a transfer. It would be a press release

CJ in Louisville predicts/says Humphries is leaving.

Cal on his Cal cast talked Tai up quite a bit so I don't think he is going anywhere.

I think Hump is at the point where he wants the promise of a starting spot, and we know Cal will never promise him that. I think he leaves. I also think it's not that big of a deal as he'll always be too slow to defend at an elite level and that's what has to happen here to win championships.

I read on another site that Humphries might be considering playing pro in Australia.

Imagine if Hump transferred/went to play pro in Australia, Bam came back, and Bamba commits. I know Bamba isn't worried about Hump but that would lessen the blow of losing Hump, who I actually like and see a lot of Josh Harrellson in.

For those who have said "he'll never be Harrellson, he's not good enough," Harrellson wasn't a force until midway thru his senior season when he shocked the world on Louisville's home court. Hump still has 2 years and is ahead of where Harrellson was at this point in his career.

humphries just turned 19 in january. and his defense was fine against carolina

much better player than he gets credit for

I wish Hump the best in whatever he decides. It makes perfect sense for him to transfer for more playing time as there is no substitute for playing time. Practicing against top competition is good, but game experience is needed to get better.

He is never going to get big minutes here. His defense is not up to Cals standards. Going to a program that plays zone would be better.

I never want a player to leave but I do want him to chase his dreams.

Actually if Hump transferred, I could see him landing at a place like Gonzaga like Wiltjer. I think his game would translate well there.
My first thought as well. Makes a lot of sense, especially with Karnowski graduating.

Cal did mention on his call in show on Monday night that someone talked to him about leaving and Cal said "You want to leave because you are afraid of an 18 year old freshman but your not afraid to play against pro's?"

When I heard that I wondered who that was about. Maybe it was Humphries.

What was he saying about Tai?

He met with Tai Wynyard one morning earlier this week to discuss what Wynyard learned about himself on and off the court, and what he needs to do to succeed. “I left that meeting feeling so good because Tai Wynyard’s gotten better… Man, has he gotten better.”

Which I would think means that he Humphries) might be considering returning to Australia to play pro there.I don't think he will transfer to another college.I think he will stay here or return home.

Just read that story. We have 11 scholarship players. The Courier guys think we lose 8 (Willis, Hawkins, Mulder, Fox, Bam, Monk, Briscoe, Humphries) and 3 stay (SKJ, Gabriel,Tai).

That's a reasonable guess. It's conventional thinking that Cal's teams at UK need at least one or two experienced guys in the rotation to overcome the youth and inexperienced. He'll have a chance to refute that next year, my guess....

his defense was better than two starters. going to a program that plays zone would likely not be better for hump's pro future

If Gabriel returns, that's a gluttony of 4 men: Washington, WG, SKJ. Add Vanderbilt as an occasional 4 man when Cal places Diallo at the 3...

If UK adds Bamba to that group, those of you who like title-level rim protection will be smiling for the entire '17-18 season.

last time uk had that kind of size, they were the best defensive team in the history of college basketball

Quade defense is the only question mark for me (assuming UK lands Bamba).

I'm not saying he can't defend. I'm just saying I haven't seen him enough to presently make a determination there. Would be elated to see UK close out with Bamba/Smith and return Briscoe. Perhaps it's a pipe dream on my part, but I don't think it's farfetched when one considers all variables.

diallo is a freak athlete with a 6 10 wingspan, and he's been practicing since january. potential is there for him to be an elite wing defender

he & briscoe together with all that size up front would seem to be ideal for playing the kind of defense cal has preferred here
