Just a quick question. We all know last years team was a VERY special one. IMO the best college team ever assembled. We feel short and that will ALWAYS bother me. Even if we win this year and the next. But my question is this. Did anyone else have that feeling before each game last year that we would win??? Last year each and every game we played I didn't even really have any doubts we'd win. And a lot of that increased after we broke it off in Kansas, but I was confident before every single game that we'd win. I never had a worry. Anyone else feel like that?????

I was really worried before the Wisconsin game. Didn't have a great feel at all. Felt like the gap between us and the rest of college basketball had shrunk and they were a great team we had to play.

The issue, imo - is with Poythress in (remember, holding his man to a fg% in the teens on average), we were the best defensive team of all time. The numbers bore that out, too. But when Poythress went down, all of a sudden there was a much bigger dependence on Willie to anchor the defense, and the problem is sometimes Willie is there on the court, and sometimes he's visiting Neptune.

And with no godmode defender Poy to anchor during games when Willie was on an intergalactic ambassador mission, suddenly there were a handful of games where Willie didn't show up in the second half of the season and we looked really, really mortal.

I felt confident before every game, except the Notre Dame game. They reminded me of UK's 2011 squad... on a roll at the right time... and I was pissed that the NCAA put them in our bracket.

As for UW, I knew it would be a tough game, but I felt like the Cats would win... and there'd only be the Final, which would have me on pins and needles, no matter what.

Yeah the ND bothered me and the Wisconsin game just seem like a possible pay back game.

If the best team should always win the NC why have the tournament?

Was less confident last year when the tourney started than I was in 2012. Only nervous once and that was against Iowa St but just bc of it being a 2nd round game. I was concerned for this squad after the lackluster play in Louisville for the tourney and then after UK dispatched WVU and slept walked against ND.

I think Poythress was the difference between just a FF appearance to a NCAA champ. His d and play making ability was missed.

You are entitled to your opinion, but 78 team and 96 team would beat last years team 10 out of 10 times.

I was 6 years old in 96, but I can remember it. Not too well, but I've watched UK since I was a little kid you know with the family and everything. I remember the 98 championship team better, but I do remember 96. I loved Ron Mercer. Had his 33 jersey. wore it to kindergarten all the time along with my Jordan and Rodman jerseys lol.

I was only scared of one team and it was Wisconsin. I hoped to avoid them all together but the geography BS put an end to that. It was comical that they were on our side while Duke gets the garbage side of the bracket again.
