Was talking with a friend that went to the game Saturday. He's a yelling screamin crazy fan at games. Started talking to a guy in the seats behind him about the OL.
Seems a LOT OF PEOPLE think that our last OL coach was a great coach BECAUSE Bama hired him.
He laughed a bit when the guy said it, and he said it offended him a little bit. But he told that guy the same thing we've talked about since last season. We had struggles last year that we never had under Schlarman with the SAME personnel. No question it was that OL coach that couldn't get the job done (in our collective minds anyway), and the struggles at Bama this year proved it.
The ONLY thing the (good) talking heads consistently pointed out about Bama is the lack of good OL play. Hurt them ALL year.
Now THAT should tell you how bad of a coach that guy is, that he could take a team with incredible OL talent and screw THAT up. The Crimson Tide land 5 and 4 stars (in that order) for their OL every year. EVERY.FRKN.YEAR. Since their first title under Saban if not before.
I think last year's failures in OL coaching bled into this year quite a bit. We need some serious money thrown at that coaching position going forward and to find a serious stud of an OL coach with a large buyout should anyone try to poach him.
