Did we simply go into "coast" mode?

Ive been thinking all morning about the second half. I wondering if our dominance in the first half, coupled with our youth and preseason hype, didn't cause us to just think we could coast to an easy win. It's hard to restart the engine after you let it cool sometimes. I hope that's all that happened. If it was, they'll learn from it and perform much better. If not, I really am a little concerned.

I kind of think so. At 33-10, everything happened very quickly. ULL scored fairly quickly to get back to 17. We then gave the ball back very quickly and they got within a score. At that point I think you could feel everyone collectively tighten up in the stadium.

With that said, I'm still concerned. Even at 33-10 the group I was watching with was discussing how our defense still looked piss poor.

1. We coasted

2. They made adjustments on offense with the new QB and we didn't respond well

3. They made adjustments on D and we didn't respond well

4. Towles was less than sharp

That being said, a win is a win. Coach will have the players attention. If the team is as good as some people think, it could pay off next week. If not, buckle up.

I would honestly like to think so. I kind of feel that if that wasn't the case, then we've taken a step back. From a conditioning standpoint alone, we looked absolutely winded in that 4th quarter, which would mean that we've taken a step back because of Korem.

I think we all know that Korem has most definitely been doing his job

I live in tucson, and #22 ranked Arizona has squeaked by division 2 UT-San Antonion 2 years in a row now. And Last year they ended up winning the Pac12 South.

It happens. Overconfidence, letting of the gas, preseason hype going to their heads, youth... it happens. I'm not too concerned at this point.

When we had to score, we did. In a "kick your teeth in" fashion. Mikel Horton ran that dude over, and Jojo kemp had one awesome block on that play.

Yes, we did. Well, it was a combination of being gassed and thinking the game was well in hand, which it was. The best way to let a game get out of hand is to start playing like it is well in hand, and hopefully our young players learned a lesson about keeping the intensity level up until time expires.

Absolutely we did. I hope the young players learned a valuable lesson last night.
