Agree with you 100%; of all the times to meet him, my path crossed with his in Atlanta after the '92 game. Went to the NCAA dinner where K, Laettner, and Jason Kidd were being honored for EOY awards. It was very entertaining and everyone was very accessible and I can't say enough good things about the interaction.Originally posted by nssdigitalchumps:
The guy is actually very approachable and nice in person.
I remember meeting him in the late early 90s. My middle brother was at his basketball summer camp. He was easy to talk to and just a very nice guy. I know a lot of UK fans hate him, but I've never had a bad opinion of him.
I'd imagine this is standard protocol for quite a few coaches.Originally posted by KMKAT:
Just curious if this is still standard protocol for Coach K when he misses?
Exactly. It's not something that K introduced.Originally posted by UK_Is_Good:

Somehow, a standard letter that many coaches have used and use wishing a kid good luck in his future endeavours after the kid moves on becomes a remarkably endearing & heart-felt letter when signed by Coach K . Don'tget me wrong, it is a very classy gesture on Coach K's part as well as the other coaches that do the same thing. I just think tge colorful description is more about slurping Coach K than being genuineOriginally posted by JerseyCat84:

Agreed. I was expecting a lot more when I read the letter AFTER reading that description. Sorry but that was NOT a "remarkably endearing and heart-felt letter" by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, I thought it sounded a bit like a form letter. Yeah, it is a classy form letter but nothing more than that.Originally posted by dmaso44:
