looking back I was pissed he came in for a year then bolted. could not for the life of me figure out why he would do a lateral move to St.Johns.

after watching him run the huddles and reading a little on his history going to St.Johns was a no brainier for him and his career. I think he is the X/o guy for that team. he has a more authoritative and powerful position there. not to mention its in his backyard.

Slice was a great get for Cal. wish he would have stayed but now understand his reasoning for leaving.

who knows how long Mullins will last. I'm sure Slice would be high up that list when it comes available. sometimes you gotta put yourself in position to get in position. good for him.

You can't figure out why he would go help one of his close friends and work in the city he loves, while making $75K extra a year? Really?

um ya he just got to UK just went on a historical run that he was a part of. I'm sure the money would of worked itself out. let's be honest 75gs is just the difference in cost of living from the Big City and Lexington. to be honest if it was only 75gs more he may of taken a pay hit to go. and not so sure it had a lot to do with Mullins being his buddy. so yea it was confusing at first.

and I bet the 75gs and Mullins had less to do with him going then the possibility of having more stroke in the program and someday taking it over. but yes it was hard to believe at first.

Slice is 55 and Mullin is 52. Not sure how likely Slice is to take over any time soon.

By all accounts Slice is well liked. It's cool that he was in a couple of movies. But the angst over his departure might be one of the funniest things in the history of this board.

Wish Slice all the best- supposedly a great guy.

Slice was also probably deciding who wad going to be sleeping with the fishes. Him and the donfather could not coexist at ky so slice had to leave. That man just has to give you a look and you will never mess the play up again

I get a kick out of the fan boys thinking Slice leaving would cripple Cal.

And it's ridiculous rafters nonsense. I was glad slice left. He just did not seem like a good fit at UK. And being a breaking point for Cal?

It just doesn't get much dumber, and I figured the stupidity would end at "Antigua will replace Calipari".

Matt Jones said that he saw Slice recently and that he, probably jokingly, asked if there was any room for him to come back. Unless he is making that up, I think Slice is definitely regretting it.

Well, those guys have their work cut out for them.

Whiffs from the '15/'16 classes:

Diallo to Kansas
Heron to Auburn
Ty Jerome to Virginia
Diarra to UConn

They landed top 50 Shamorie Ponds.

For their potential '17 class, check out what's sitting there waiting to be recruited:

Mohamed Bamada - 6'11" (ranked #8) from Harlem, New York
Hamidou Diallo - 6'5" (ranked #11) from Queens, New York
Nick Richards - 6'11" (ranked #13) from Queens, New York
Jordan Tucker - 6'7" (ranked #30) from White Plains, New York, which is less than an hour from St. John's.

If Mullins/Slice can't sign any of these guys, I think it's safe to assume that they will also fail at St. John's. Four guys ranked amongst the top 30 are from your city (albeit, most of them are prepping this year, but their families are still in NYC). If you can't sign one or two of them, it probably doesn't bode well for the future of St. John's under Mullins. I wish Slice well; he'll have a chance to prove that he's an elite recruiter simply by convincing kids to stay home. Let's see if he can actually do it.

I'll take Tony B. He really did the job this year on our class! Good dude. Smart and well spoken and a former great college player. Great fit

Didn't know anything about him before and don't know anything about him now. He looks like a mafia Don. For that reason alone, I'm glad he's gone.

I honestly was a little concerned when antigua left about recruiting, but with the last 2 classes cal just landed, he can do the whole job all by himself if need be.

Cal is just letting those other dudes enjoy the free ride and get rich doing it.

Reasons other than money, that was just a part of it.

Point being, anyone who can't figure out why he would even think about leaving aren't looking at everything. There are plenty of reasons why he did it, and it's no knock on our program or Cal at all.

Regardless, who cares why he did it or if it was a mistake...his life.
