The way I see Diallo is that he combines two aspects of those two guys.

I think he has Zay's driving ability combined with Monk's athleticism. He may not be the top level shooter Monk was, but I think he's a better shooter than Zay was the last two years. If he can finish at the cup at an elite level like Zay, it could be scary.

Dude. Neither Monk or Briscoe compare well to Diallo. Monk was a shooter/scorer with a short wingspan. Briscoe... was Briscoe. Diallo is an athletic wing with a 6'10" wingspan.

IMO Briscoe and Diallo are the most comparable. Not great shooters but can cut to the basket with ease. Only difference is Briscoe was laying it up and Diallo will be dunking.

Thinking more like a shorter, bouncier MKG. Would love to see him shoot better than 30% from 3, and ~80% on free throws. If he does, he's a lottery pick for sure (and we're deadly).

This ^ is a better comparison.

What made Monk so good was his shooting.

IMO he will shoot around 32% from 3 and 72 % from the line . But I think he will have a game or 2 where he goes 5-6 from 3 ( but also have games where he is 0-7) . He is here to shut opponents down and attack the rim .

I may be off here but he really looks like a Cory Brewer type to me from Florida's title teams.

Diallo is being misread. He's far more athletic than given credit for. And he's shown more body control and ability than Monk. What makes Diallo unique is his ability to jump off one or both feet equally well.

Diallo is better in all aspects then monk except shooting ,he's a freak athlete with a great wingspan and a great going to the hole ,he also has improved shooting the ball from deep since being on campus. Thoughts?

Something folks have to keep in mind is that Diallo is from Queens. I'm guessing most of you who are on this board have never been to Queens (or other NYC boroughs). I have.

Diallo will show us he has that flavor that only a big-city kid has.

Oh LORD, please tell me he can shoot better than Briscoe and play better defense than Monk....................

I'm thinking more Archie Goodwin type? Very athletic who will be a streaky shooter and a potental lockdown defender.

Who is trying to "make" it happen. You realize that it is his nickname, heck his twitter handle is @ZayBriscoe im pretty sure.

I literally have never heard anyone refer to him as Zay. I see he recently changed his Twitter account to Zay so I guess he's the one try to make Zay happen

They're both athletic freaks, great defensive potential, mediocre/streaky shooters, incredible wingspan.

Like it or not, Wiggins is a very solid comparison.
Diallo is stronger and more mobile with the ball. I just feel he's going to shock a lot of people with his ability to get to the rack with variety of moves.

Wiggins is extremely mobile and fantastic at getting to the rim. Think we'll have to agree to disagree here
I'm cool with that. I just think Diallo has more skills toward the point guard level and much more ability to get to the rim than Wiggins. And a great asset to Diallo is his bulk and strength in comparison to Wiggins.

Diallo best comparison is a more athletic Josh Jackson / Wiggins without the outside shooting at this point.

For a UK player under Calipari, hard to compare him, maybe a shorter MKG, as both relied more on athleticism to score and both had a questionable shot. But I think the best is a much more athletic Goodwin. Taller, better slasher, better finisher, and questionable shot. Some may not like that comparison, as people do not have fond memories of Goodwin, but if the rest of the team is better than what Goodwin had around him, than it is a GREAT comparison.

Yeah it seems like you haven't watched Wiggins very much. All good.

Yeah Wiggins isn't a good comparison other than Athletically. If he was comparable then he would not have pulled out of the draft. If 19 year old Wiggins was in this draft he would be a top 3 pick easily. A comparable player to Wiggins would be late lotto lock

Wrong. First, I said he's a shorter Wiggins- not the second coming of Wiggins. Taking off three inches from a player can have a huge impact on a player's draft value.

Second, minus the height differences, they still have pretty comparable sets of strengths and weaknesses. Athletic freaks, fantastic wingspan, mediocre shooters, can get to the rim, great defensive potential. If you don't see that, that's on you.

I would have LOVED to see Diallo on the all-star circuit we've just been through, from McD's to Nike to Jordan Brand, and so on. I would have loved to see how he'd compare with those guys. I don't think we've had very many guys who compare to Diallo. He's 6-5 in shoes and has a 6-11.25 wingspan. MKG was 6-7 and had a 7-0 wingspan, which is impressive. But MKG wasn't the same athlete. MKG's vertical leap was 35.5" which isn't terrible. But Diallo's is 44.5" which is ludicrous. Monk's vertical was impressive too- his vertical is 42" but he's only 6-3 in shoes and his wingspan is only 6'3". He also posted a 2.79 shuttle run and a 3.11 3/4 court sprint at the combine, which are both quicker than De'Aaron Fox's time.

So, he has Hawkins' vertical.
He has MKG's wingspan.
He has Fox's quickness and speed.

The truth is, we haven't seen a wing like Diallo under Calipari.

Big questions: How good a ball handler is he? How good a passer is he? How good a shooter can he be? We know he can dunk. We know he has the tools to be a shut down defender.

With Diallo on one wing and Knox on the other, I think we're going to be a very happy group of fans.

A taller more athletic Brandon Stockton. Or was it John Stockton. Either one really.
