DeVonte Fields

As long as they win the beat will go on. They are a ruthless program. We all know that. National media will not spend much time on them because in the grand scheme their program is irrelevant on the grand stage of college football.

UK needs to beat Bobby and the Cards on the field. That is all that matters at this point. Once Petrino leaves we all know their program will be mess again for someone else to come in and have to clean up.

Big time pick up for UofL. I assume he can play next year. If he stays out of trouble their defense just got a lot better.

Devonte Fields mentions the "haters/doubters" in his tweet announcing his transfer to UL. There is plenty to hate/doubt about taking him.

I'm all for second chances, I just wouldn't want to be the person giving it to Devonte Fields.

I expect anytime to see a charitable organization spring up at UofL called "Save Our Bad Boys". Something similar to "Boystown" except it would be only if they were good at football. Heck does not anyone but me think that Turtleneck and Petrino have Father Flanagan type qualities. Heck all Turtleneck Jurich needs to do is replace the turtle neck with a backward white collar and he is Father Flanagan's double. We all know he is a candidate for beautification for sainthood.

I love it when people break the law or commit violent assaults with a weapon and everyone criticizing them for it is a hater. Grow up jerk. You deserved what you got.

UofL fans equating beating 100lb woman to winning barfight against 280lb lineman.

You really can't fix stupid.

Without the assault and the use of a gun he never would have found his way to The University of Louisville. He should count his blessings. He is home.

Laughable... well... not if you are a parent paying for child to attend college on a correctional farm. I suppose it helps that most go home to their parents' basements each night.

I love how, even in denouncing this instance, UL media refuses to mention/accept that this is a long term trend and not just several isolated instances of giving out "second chances." It is a craven attempt to fill the roster with talented players that a school like UL could never consistently recruit on its own.

When the UL media starts talking about that and not just pontificating on single instances, I will be impressed

What did Crawford say Bob?
Here it is.
Thanks for the link. That was strong from Crawford. Good for him.
What's funny to me is that Crawford is acting like this is the first time UofL has ever done anything like this. They have been doing it forever under Second Chance Bobby.

Yes, but this is a start. I wonder if he will be able to get in the next UL game, and how much verbal abuse he will get if he does.

Remember jurich personally vetting Willie and finding him to be deserving of a "second" chance, although he had already had about ten. Now serving a life prison sentence in Kentucky (not sure who pays for that, certainly not UL) as a HABITUAL criminal.

Louisville fans should be proud. He'll be on campus soon looking for a new squeeze. Guess who's coming to dinner?

To be fair at least he did not go through and kill the girl, as the UL drug dealer football player was responsible for doing to a cheerleader last fall

Still amazing, a UL cheerleader ODed in the drug den/crackhouse of a UL football player just months ago. Soon thereafter a UL player was arrested in Nov and it was completely hushed up, he even played the rest of the season and the arrest only comes to light after a SECOND arrest weeks later.

Outlaws and criminals welcome there, always, win at all costs. And no-one embodies it more than the head coach, and the AD who hired him.

It is incredible the things their AD has been able to foster and sell to their fans, with the help of a compliant press, in every facet of their program, financing, transfers, coaches, games every day of the week including High School football's day, you name it and he has done it, just win baby.

Crawford's article is spot on. This guy acts like he is a victim because his draft stock went down due to the Ray Rice issue. What a piece of crap, he and UL deserve each other.

They are living with the uncomfortable foreknowledge that we are about to ascend, and willing to do anything to avoid finding themselves under our boot heel. Simple as that. Their desperate abandonment of any standards is only going to make the endgame uglier for them.

Count his blessings? He studied hard for the entrance exam and passed with flying Cardinal colors. Give him some credit. How else do you get in UL? Not with some measly misdemeanor on your rap sheet.

Fields is an awesome talent. He was projected to be the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in the pre-season this year. It sucks that he is going to UofL. TCU has been guilty of letting their discipline lapse in the couple of seasons prior to this one. So Coach Patterson started laying down the law about off-field problems this year. It paid off in the end, because obviously TCU had a great season without Fields.

Look we keep bringing these kind of stuff up with these folks and what good does it do...NOTHING!!!...All you have to look at is the coaches that they employee...Two of the biggest scumbags in ALL of college sports and you think a little thing like this bothers their fan base ...

"The first is to athletes: That domestic violence against women is not as important as your ability as a football player. If you're good enough, you can do what you want, and there will always be another chance. It makes any kind of message you want to put forward about abuse ring hollow.""

That is all you have to know about good athletes in today's society..

Sickening, that is what is. This should be an NCAA issue first and fore most. If a kid gets into trouble with woman abuse they should be kicked out of all NCAA schools. The kid should be in jail not in college where there are thousands of young women there to take advantage of. If he is low life'ed enough to hit a woman he is just as likely to do something much worse. Some-beech needs his azz kicked...He is at the right place to do even more.

Go BB

And another great destroyer of girlfriends, he's a great guy. But I wouldn't want to see the class level to go up for ul fans anyway, congrats.

I was thinking that same thing. Kudos to Crawford for finally being somewhat critical of UofL but I do find it funny that his slant makes it seem like this is the first time UofL has taken in a questionable player dispite that fact that a good chunk of their roster is made up of cast aways from other programs due to violence or legal issues. He also made sure to throw another school under the bus so UofL doesn't look as bad.

According to that other board it seems that some think that deep down this guy is a good kid and they are lucky to get him. Some could'nt care less what he did as long as he can play football. Then there is this post that claims that a TCU fan ,who obviously is closer to the situation than us,posted that Devonte was a good kid that was running with a bad crowd . He accidently struck his girl friend while swinging at this guy.
