Devin Booker calls Kentucky soft

I agree completely. What I can't figure out is if we talk about being soft then the response is that we are claiming we will always be that way? No way. Cal will be on them hard and you will see this team toughen up and that is exactly what we need. Especially since UL will turn it into a street fight as Pitino will be hounding his players to be physical with us.

Not sure that's a post to call anyone out on. Generic to me. Correct to me but none-the-less generic.

I haven't seen a single poster write off the season? What do you mean by that?

I have seen numerous posts in this regard: Skal's a bust, 20-12 season, etc

I don't this team played well or could beat many teams by how they played the other night, but it's one loss. I'm neither a sunshine pumper or a doom and gloomer, I just want to see a competitive team.

I am excited to see them grow and that will mean they lose games. They may not be a Title contending team, but I think they're going to give it hell.

Let's just enjoy the process.

If I were Booker Id keep my mouth shut after his lackluster performance v Wisconsin.
why? Booker was a large part of the reason we got to that point. I think it's awesome that he, and many of our other former players continue to take interest in how our current team is doing. And he has as much right to say anything as any other fan does
He's right - right now we ARE soft. It is my opinion that we get better.

I'd just remind Devin that he was a little soft early in the season too. I seem to recall him saying that the required intensity of the defense detracted from his shooting.

He's just echoing what Cal has been saying for weeks - simple motivation.

Agreed. And learning to transition their game. Devin also stated in some of those games in August that the speed of play was the biggest adjustment for him. Its really easy to forget that the first 10 - 15 games played by any college freshman are quite likely the toughest 10 - 15 games of their lives.

Like he said, we are playing soft right now. Nothing wrong with what he said because it is fact. Plus he played here and has more credibility than anyone. He knows we'll be straight towards the end and his buddy Tyler will lead the charge.

OP, you picked us to lose 6 conference games before the season started.

You certainly might be right. But you have been working overtime since Thursday night to act like your opinions are now validated.

It's not quite "I told you so" but it's kind of like "I told you so."

It should come as no surprise that people don't like that. Even worse, nothing you said has truly played out.

It's December. We just lost a true road game where we played like crap and the other team played their pants off. Besides our generally crappy play, we also were riddled with fouls, and were 1 and a half men down with injury.

I wasn't surprised we lost Thursday. Many of us weren't, especially considering the circumstances.

Maybe if you didn't appear so gleeful. If we are healthy the rest of the year and finish 12-6 in conference, I will be the first to acknowledge that you nailed it.

Unless of course you take every loss as an opportunity to start a thread titled, "Ooooooh I was Rigggght!"

There's a difference between soft and "__________ sucks. He's a total bust"

That's why I take issue with.

We have some players that are too polite or friendly on the court , they think it's rude to bump someone going for a rebound . That can be fixed but that's who we are right now , we want to play finesse ball . You need a certain grit or fight in order to get rebounds , loose balls , tough and 1 baskets . You have to do those things to win it all because you probably won't shoot your way through a tournament . How are you going to compensate for off shooting if you don't do that ?

We have upperclassmen that could show them but they also don't like to play that way , Alex and Marcus don't play physical . What lead can Skal follow if no other big man will demonstrate ? That's our biggest issue to solve this year , Cal will keep working on that . All we have to do is support and watch the progress until he figures it out , no matter how slow that will be .

Need someone to learn how to hold position in the post and post up. We get a low post presence with the guards we have, we will be really, really good. I just don't see who on the roster is going to do it.

Like Cal did with his lackluster performance against Wisconsin.

Kwilt, you've got to stop getting so angry when someone says something negative against Cal or this team. Cal has his faults as any coach does, but he can normally recruit his way out of them.

Everyone played poorly against Wisconsin for the most part. No need to single out Booker KWilt.

And yes, that includes Cal as Chuck mentioned. That game was pretty much no one's finest hour.

I guess according to the sunshine pumpers that makes him a hater for pointing out the obvious instead of waving pom poms.

Just because many of us don't buy into the season is over, we suck, 12 losses coming and blah blah doesn't mean we don't see certain players are soft right now.

If being able to see our issues but staying positive and keeping things in perspective is a sunshine pumper oh well have at it.

Even if this team ends the regular season with 7-9 losses, that doesn't mean they can't do some damage in March. We've seen it happen before. Not just the 20'13-'14 UK squad but, others as well. We were never going to go 38-0 this year. Just wasn't possible.
If Cal can get these guys to change and become better players individually and as a unit, who knows what could happen? We're a long way from that right now but, the season is definitely a process to get to where we want to be.

I agree with Booker. Don't think it's any big secret. Anyone who has watched us sees the same thing.

No doubt were soft right now....but that doesn't mean it's not going to change and its the end of the world.

I agree. Anyone with eyes knows we were soft. The issue is that a very small few thinks that the whole year is down the tubes, after 8 games, because of it. If we play that way all year, I will agree, but I don't think there is any way Cal doesn't get their attention. I also think that adding Wynyard will bring some toughness to this team.

Booker def earned right to state his opinion.

One of, if not the greatest shooter ever at uk.

Time will tell. Its low class to bring up wisco son game and reference booker.

We're definitely soft right now. Especially Skal.

But coming from Booker who got torched on D against Wisconsin so bad he got benched, a little odd. (Love Booker, haters)

Dekker was a 6'6" shooting guard trying to guard a future 6'9" NBA power forward in Sam Dekker. What did you expect?

Like I care what Booker thinks. It's not like he was some kind of hard-nosed player himself, and he couldn't play D worth a crap.

Cats might be soft right now but DB is the last guy who needs to be pointing it out.

And OP.....again with the sunshine pumper cliche. Thought you were against stuff like that?
