I'll start by saying that I have several children in multiple sports so I don't always get to watch the games and sometimes catch only bits and pieces of the games.

I guess I'm just confused on how our scheme is set up to be ran. Typically you have the biggest MF'r, which would be Walker causing havoc in the middle of the line.

It's my understanding or maybe lack there of that he plays one of the DE spots leaving a smaller less talented guy to have to take on the middle of the Oline.

Maybe I'm completely off but isn't this putting our Dline at a disadvantage by giving up the middle of the field when we have a monster that could control it and free up multiple players to have easier plays to make???

If I'm completely mistaken please take it easy on me...

To me...Deonne is a NG.

I'd argue UK is wanting to get Silver and Hayes on the field and they are NG as well. So to get our best players on the field we put him at DT.

We usually don't get gashed running the ball at us and Walker, Silver and Ox do a good job clogging up the run game and allowing Deryck and Trevin to clean it up. But that formation is proving to be poor pass rushers. I'm not sure that it matters a ton Walker to NG (they might if Silver is out for a while).

He should be a nose guard in a 3 lineman system, Albert Haynesworth style. However, even being as huge as he is, he’s still our most athletic guy, and so we try to use him as an Edge (it used to be RDE and LDE back in the day) because he’s just the most talented. It’s a real indictment on Weaver and the rest of our edges.

They’ve moved him around a good bit, as Inthink the majority of his snaps have been at Nose. I’ve seen him coming off
The edge some, but not a majority of the time.

I agree and said as much last year. My only guess is he doesn't want to play there. Silver played great this season but they'd still both benefit from flip flopping.

That said, deone does slide to nose on pass rush downs pretty regularly

Deone can play a number of positions, and play them well. we have 2 other pretty good nose tackles so if you can put a 6-4, 350 player coming off the edge and not miss a beat, why not. he eats up 2 or 3 blockers, and the NG eats up a couple, that puts less people running the routes, and makes it a long day for smaller players trying to stop him. and he can drop into zone coverage. that really blows minds because you get 2-3 set to block him, and he drops back, now you have 3 blockers blocking air, somebody is coming free.

MO linemen play rough and mean every year against us. Will be interesting to see which one of our linemen will match up the best against that.
