Most everyone, me included, thought we would take a step back in the defensive efficiency department this year, but not the case. Through 5 games, we are #1 in that category. We have yet to give up more than 65, and are averaging giving up only 62 per game. By contrast, Duke has given at least 71 every game and are allowing 75 ppg, and Kansas is allowing 72 ppg.

Wow. That is a surprising stat. They look very slow to rotate over underneath the basket and BU hit a high percentage of 3's last night, so the perimeter d was suspect. I guess they are still outperforming the rest of the country....amazing what Cal and the coaches are accomplishing with these youngsters early on...

We are half the Defensive team we were last year at this time but we still are a top 3 D team this year IMO.
