COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The nation's top point guard -- De'Aaron Fox -- went one-on-one with Scout to discuss his mentality at USA Basketball and the latest in his college recruitment.
Evan Daniels: After a great summer, what do you have to prove here at USA Basketball?
De'Aaron Fox: I want to show people that I’m the best guard regardless of class. Even though I’m one of the older guys here, even the younger guys I kind of want them to fear me when they are on the court with an older person. Other than that it’s cool playing with all the top talent in these three classes.
Switching gears to recruiting, you did your first official visit to LSU. How was that trip?
It was good. [Antonio Blakeney] was my host and he showed me around. He talked about why he picked LSU because he had every school in the country too. So I just talked to him and I just talked to him a lot that weekend.
You followed that trip up with a visit to Louisville. How was that official?
It was cool. I really wanted to see how coach Pitino did his practices because those guys are crazy in shape. They’ll run you to death. His practices are ridiculous. It’s not just that they run the whole time, but they probably only got one break the entire workout they had. I see why his guys don’t get tired.
[They want me to] be the Chris Jones, Peyton Siva, Russ Smith type that can pick up full court and play the entire game. Offensively it’s really running through them too.
How was your recent in-home visit with John Calipari?
We just talked about what he expects out of me. I just asked a couple of questions and asked him what I should expect on my official visit.
What’s your upcoming visit schedule?
I’ll go to Kansas next weekend. Kentucky the weekend after that. Then Arizona two weeks after Kentucky.
How are things progressing with Kansas? Did they come in for an in-home?
I actually have done in-homes with everybody, except Louisville they came to my school so we didn’t really do an in-home. With Kansas it’s a winning program. I’m not sure if Frank will be back, but really every school that is recruiting me I’ll probably play alongside another point guard so that’s really not a problem. I mean Frank is a scoring guard. I can score. I can distribute so I feel like we can gel great together.
Lastly with Arizona, what’s your take on them right now?
I like Arizona. Right now they are guard heavy. They are really guard heavy and wing heavy. But they don’t have a point guard so to speak. So if I came in there I’d be able to start right away and I’d have the wings that I need. If you come off the bench as a wing there, you can start anywhere else.
Are you starting to develop some favorites?
Yeah. I’m starting to develop favorites. You don’t want to say that and be bias, but I’m starting to take visits and narrow it down. So you start picking out favorites.
N.C. State was on your list, where do things stand with them?
They did an in-home but right now it’s probably not going to happen. I already set all my officials and I probably won’t squeeze any unofficials in there.
Do you have a timeframe for making your college decision?
Most likely I’ll get it done between my Arizona visit and my first high school game, which is the [November] 16th and my Arizona visit is the first weekend in November. It’ll be around early to mid-November.

Two take aways from that:
1. My greatest fear is Arizona, not Kansas
2. Fox is not the recruit expected to be pulling the trigger after BBM...I'd say it's Bolden

Do you think his decision time line of mid-Nov is correct or is that just public talk?
I'm just trying to figure out if Bolden or Fox is the player that could pull the trigger at or right after BBM.
