Darriob Henry-Young...

Maybe this player needs a change of scenery. His HS film is impressive as is his full offer sheet.

6'5'' 265 lbs on the surface reads more like an OLB. That's basically Bud Dupree and Josh Allen measurements. While UK's DEs this year played at 285 (Paschal) and 300+ (Rbyka). This semester will be big for him to add good weight to his frame.

(I'm assuming he's not athletic enough to play OLB - based on zero evidence one way or the other)

He’s a hand in the dirt/grass/turf kinda guy.

That was his measurements as a HS Senior. Two years at OSU has bulked him up I’m sure.

Just watched his high school film. He looks really good but he is definetly a DE and not a LB.

I know the DEs in our scheme tend to be bigger (290 lbs or bigger) but, if this guy can move and is legit 275 lbs, I don't see a problem. How many times have our OTs had trouble with the 250 lb rush end/OLB? A 4-star kid that played some at tOSU and is a least very close to ideal size - I say we got a nice piece to fill a definite void. I wouldn't be surprised to see him start or play a ton of snaps next year. And, yes, I think he's a DE, also, not a LB'er.

Really Henry-Young competes with Rybka to replace Paschal at DE. I agree he does not look like a Jack LBer at all and not so much a DT spot as well.

I thing for UK it is great but I do wonder how Sam Analee factors for DE down the road. He's already been passed by Rybka and can he hold this dude off is a question for him for sure IMO

We'll probably get the answer to your last question at the end of spring camp.

Maybe Anaele is proving more quick DT material?

Could be....but it's hard to start as a Jack then grow to a DE then grow to a DT. He started at 6'4 227 lbs. He's up to 275 which is great for DE but needs a bit more to play DT IMO. Ox is over 300 lbs and Hoskins was over 300 lbs at DT last year.

Besides, Ox has that locked up for a few years and Analee isn't bigger than Saunders or Dinkins who can play DT down the road if they grow into those spots.

All true. Guess I'm thinking he got a late start in football, and might have more trouble setting edge/keeping containment in regular DE play than pinning his ears back in pass rush at DT... so he might make a surprising pass rush specialist from the DT spot? If true, this still means he lives down the chart. If not larger, he'd not look great in running game gap control.

I'm making some assumptions about his bend and hands.

According to the roster on the official OSU athletics website, he is still 6'5, 265...maybe they don't update it accurately, or maybe it's accurate and he needs to bulk.

Either way, glad he's on board. Hopefully, the timing of his commitment means he can move to Lexington immediately and enroll for the spring semester.

Like you, I wonder what it means for Anaele, but my guess is that it almost certainly guarantees Isaiah Gibson will stay in the portal (assuming I haven't missed that Gibson has already announced his transfer destination).

Anaele has had injuries, he's healthy now and will be a factor.

This DL will eventually be the best and deepest in my lifetime. They're really young but they'll be outstanding and it's damned good to see!
