Darius West clocked at 23 mph using Catapult System

I think someone yesterday said that when Stoops arrived, five players eclipsed 19 mph. Now they have about 33.

I wonder if either him, Stamps, or Edwards might be able to give some time at CB. The Cats are still a bit thin at CB.

I was wondering the same thing and I'm hoping so. I feel like edwards has the body type to play CB, at least to provide depth. I feel like stamps will be counted on for more big time plays at safety and this will be his sunday position so i don't see the staff moving him.

That is blazing...I think I saw on the MLB all star game that Adrian Peterson is about 22.5 in game action and Mike Trout was around the same...

I wonder what speed Boom clocked in at. I'd say he's at least top five fastest on the team.

Catapult is one of the the training systems used by Korem and co. http://www.catapultsports.com/us/sports/american-football

Ok, that makes sense. I was picturing something like the following.

We used to use bungees and such to force someone past their normal speed......so to me running 23 mph for a collegiate athlete like him wasn't so impressive. But now, it is.

So, 100 meters in 9.7 seconds. Mens 100 meter record is 9.58 by Usain Bolt.

Seems fast. [banana]
It is not a measure of time just raw speed. It could take him longer to get to 23 than someone else but the top end speed is what it is.

The thing about the data that I like the most is no more bs'ing about we look faster... we know if we're faster now... and it's in practice type environment so not a track time.

It's going to be eye opening to look back at the data after Stoops first class of 5th year seniors graduates. This is one of those programs that is derided by UL fans who think it's just a diet thing but this is next level science and it's going to make a huge difference in year 4 and 5 of the program.

You are very close according to my math, but sprinters lose a bit getting up to speed AND have to have a lot of stamina to maintain it that long.

Wasn't there a post about Towles being clocked at about 22 MPH, (forgot the exact number) now that is freakishly fast for someone that big. And of course you have Bud, we are going to miss him.

Thanks for posting, OP.

A little off topic, but is there anything mike Trout can't do on a ball field. Dude is 23 and is already unstoppable.

If you've ever been close to the field during a game or open practice, then you've seen how fast Towles is. He can really move.

He's unbelievable...crazy thing is I think he'd fit right in on the football field and be one freaky NFL athlete as well.
