as he defends Ole Roy while calling the UNCheat game. Everybody at ESPN is on the same page when it comes to minimizing the Chapel Hill scandal.

Yeah....He said they had a geology class he called "rocks for jocks"....... I wish the NCAA would start investigating IU. This is shiz the way they are giving a pass to UNC.

I wonder what they'll say when UNC suddenly has a bunch of vacated wins and titles. Maybe that will finally be enough to shut their damn mouths about how they were "easy classes that everyone has." Burns me up.

He also claimed that coaches were negatively recruiting against the tar holes and were lying. Bemoaned their shatty recruiting class. UNC has level 1 violations and lack of institutional control hanging over their head. Anyone who can read could find that out. I wonder if these two clowns were paid by the tarhole pr firm.

I agree with him that every college has easy classes it tries to steer athletes into. The issue is UNC had fake classes. I've taken easy classes at my school, and I'm no athlete. It is quite easy to find them if your college has a review website of professors...most of the time you can take the easier or medium level ones until you get into your upper division major specific courses.

LOL...... It is a different world now. When I was doing undergrad it was a course catalogue and a room full of poster board cut outs of what was left and what was full. If your last name was Wood (mine) you just grabbed what was left......alphabetical order my arse ; )

Did you hear when he said the thing with UNC has always been toughness?

Dan Dakich is one of the worst color men I've ever heard in my life, and that's saying something. I've been watching and listening to college basketball for most of my life, which currently stands at 43 years.

I think, no, I know that I could do a much better job than that guy. He says a bunch of clichés and blurts our a bunch of nonsense continually.

I don't think he's that bad. I think the one thing he DOESN'T do is speak in clichés. Guess what? That's when you say things that piss people off, which is why most of these guys speak in clichés.

I notice SACS didn't put all the other schools on academic probation. I'm guessing Dan didn't address that little issue.

This isn't just a rival school squealing to the NCAA, the accreditation body basically kicked NC in the balls and told they would return the next year with steel toed boots.

Maybe the more appropriate term is politically correct instead of cliché. The defense of Roy Williams and UNC is one example. But he also seems to just always say what he thinks someone would expect him to say in a particular moment. I could only stomach about 10 minutes of that UNC game with the volume up. I had to mute it because he's such an terrible color man.

And the thing that aggravates me is not that he makes me mad speaking the truth. It's that he makes me feel like my IQ is dropping by the minute while I'm listening. He doesn't even seem to know basketball.

He said the one thing about Carolina has always been toughness. On the rare occasions when they had it, they made the Final Four. But usually they don't. You would never hear any other announcer go there. I was talking to a friend of mine who loves Carolina and he said "I can't fault him, he's 100 percent right".

Remember, it was Dakich who guarded Jordan when Indiana upset No. 1 North Carolina in the 1984 tournament.

I believe Roy knew the classes were bogus. I also believe Roy thought it happens at every other university, and doesn't fall under his responsibility. He probably figures it's his duty to get them either to the pros or get them a degree. I hope UNC goes down for this, don't get me wrong, but I don't see Roy as the evil puppet master behind the scenes.

Don't really care what he knew. He was the man in charge. His shop cheated = He was responsible

And he eats moon pies. What more reason do you need?

I had several classes (geology and educational psychology, believe it or not) with athletes, including Archie Goodwin, Ryan Harrow, and Doron Lamb. I'm sure I had some with football players and other athletes but I didn't recognize them.

No, these classes weren't microbiology, although one of them was actually specific for my major. But I needed them to graduate. Just because these guys aren't taking the hardest class available doesn't mean they aren't working towards a degree if they stayed long enough. On top of that, the athletes had the best attendance of anyone.

This narrative that athletes just sit in on underwater basket weaving and don't do jack is nonsense and not based in reality whatsoever. At least not at UK. If these classes are good enough to satisfy my USP requirements and earn me a degree, they're good enough for athletes.

Dakich - UK players don't even go to class. everything wrong with college basketball

UNC - Everyone has joke or fake classes...... .Dont have to go to class, nothing should happen to them , its not Roys fault

UK has the AP scores ... so either our players go to class or he's accusing us of doing what UNC did. Either way in the end it just shows how much of a bigot he is.

Not now. Back in the day, though....once knew a guy on the football team when I was there in the mid 80s. He said the football players were told what was going to be on each test. The basketball players were actually given the test.

A buddy of mine played Division I football for Northeastern or Northwestern Louisiana. As much as the big schools get away with shenanigans, he said you wouldn't believe how much stuff goes on at some of the smaller schools. One guy would take their tests for them. That kind of stuff.

Is Dakich seriously admitting to taking classes that were made easier and were solely for athletes?

Sounds like he's admitting to some NCAA violations IU has committed

Edit: Hearing some seriously funny stuff about "Dinosaurs and Disasters" at UK

Oh I'm sure that back in the day all kinds of crazy stuff went down. Now it's so easy to uncover shenanigans though, a lot of that kind of stuff probably isn't worth the trouble, especially for schools as under the microscope as Kentucky.

Yeah, the most hypocritical thing about his rant was his saying to kids that are being recruited by UNC that if other school's coaches are saying UNC is going to get sanctions, he wouldn't go to that school, because they don't know that, so those coaches are liars.

Well, ole Roy is flat out telling kids UNC is not getting sanctions, and he doesn't know that, so doesn't that make him a liar?

As I said in the other thread, Dakich is also the guy who said that the story about RMK choking a player wasn't true. The guy has no ethics or integrity whatsoever.

If coaches don't know what players attend classes how did Bobby Knight know none of our players attended a single class in 2010?

Roy left Kansas on probation, why should he be any different at UNC. JockItch is an idiot.

I think Dakich has an agenda to scratch backs for certain people, like Roy Williams and UNC. Truth often seems irrelevant to him. It's his agenda that matters. He can just bend the facts to fit his agenda. And he does it with a straight face. So what does that make him? Either deluded or a compulsive liar. Does he REALLY believe Roy and UNC have done nothing wrong and deserve no sanctions? He's almost as bad as these message board UL fans who believe UL has done nothing wrong. I don't have much use for people who can't, at the very least, acknowledge the truth of these situations.

Not taking up for Dakich in any way, but over the years, at Dook.... a large amount of 'Sociology' majors in their hoops program. Greg Newton was apparently one of them....and barely scraped by with a 2.0 GPA.

There is proof UNC***'s classes were fake. If every university is supplying fake classes then we are just watching pro ball and the athletes are getting completely hosed on pay.

Dakich is the only guy out there who has been taking shots at Pitino over this latest scandal. Funny shots, too.

I still have nightmares about Add/Drop my freshman year at UK....

He actually said that even IF they were fake classes that it wasn't Roy's fault. After all, how could Roy possibly know? Rogue professors, you know, with an agenda all their own.

Just once I wish someone was there to interject and ask if Roy should have raised an eyebrow at the fact that McCants went from being on the verge of failing to straight A and the Dean's list in one semester.
