I don't think Dakari is going to the league this year. He does not jump well. Are there any bigs in the NBA that jump as poorly as he does?

Anyone else remember the results of the combine? Not running Dakari down because I think he's got a future in the NBA, no doubt a future pro. But speaking directly to the OP and his vertical leap:
Dakari had a max vertical of 34" at the combine. WCS had a max vertical of 37". Does anyone actually believe that WCS only has a 3" higher vertical leap than Dakari Johnson? I mean how is that even possible?

Combine numbers can't be taken too serious. I used this example before, Doug McDermott had the same max vertical as Blake Griffin. Thats just laughable.
It also depends on standing reach. Depending on how hard you stretch and reach for standing flat footed to where you reach when you jump is the difference. What I remember reading somewhere is that poor leapers will barely extend and then jump as hard as they can for the greatest difference. I've tried the theory myself and depending on how hard I'm trying, at 6'1, I have a 4 inch varience...if that makes 0 sense I'm sorry but it sounded good in my head.

Dakari is a much improved player but obviously still has a lot of room for improvement.
He can develop into a monster if he puts in the work. He tends to be too quick to put up a shot and needs
more strength to get that shot off and draw a slew of and-ones.
Love to see him become more dominant on the offensive glass - the tools are all there.

Jamaal Magloire played in the NBA from 2000 - 2012.
Nazr Mohammed began in 1998 and is still on a roster.
Brad Miller played from 1998 until 2012.
Kwame Brown played from 2001 until 2012.
Darko Miličić played (in the NBA) from 2003 until 2012.
Those are just the first five names that came to mind when I thought about recent NBA big guys whose main asset was just being big. Miller is the best of the bunch. He was a starter for much of his career (albeit mostly on some pretty bad teams), and was a two time All-Star, but isn't especially athletic. Magloire was probably the next best of them (at least he was once an All-Star), but he was only a starter for 4.5 years. Nazr only once started 60 or more games in a season despite being on a roster for 17 years. Kwame and Darko were never impact players but each played for at least a decade.
I don't know how Dakari will compare to the guys on this list, but I do know he'll get drafted, and that he'll have a great chance at a long career provided he can stay healthy.
It is a good comparison but Dakari is a better offensive player NOW than Perkins has ever been (and Dakari is certainly really improving quickly). Dakari's footwork is much better, and he's a little quicker. Perkins has been a very good defensive player for a long time and Dakari has yet to prove he can do that at an NBA level. He should have been on my earlier list of big men who have had long careers despite not being great athletes.
Perkins was drafted in 2003 and is still on a roster (and probably will continue playing for the next few years). He was a starter for most of seven seasons. He's never been an All-Star but has been an impactful defensive player on some VERY successful teams. (One could argue he's had a better career than Brad Miller whom I put at the top of my earlier list of recent big men who played for a really long time despite not being standout athletes.)

This is the issue. Hes at maximum draft position this year, depending on other bigs that declare.
