Does anyone think if Johnson came back for another year we would be 12-0 right now?

Since Johnson was the only one from last year's team that was on the fence about leaving or staying I wonder how this team would have looked with him in the middle. I think he made a mistake leaving for the NBADL.

No. DJ sucked majority of last season. Why are people forgetting that?

lots of sophomores play down. Maybe that's all it was.

I think he would have been really valuable to the team. We would be a better rebounding team that's for sure.

Absolutely would be great to have him in the middle right now. What's the downside? Can't we all name several players that he would be better than? Plus he'd be a year more experienced and probably stronger. I'd take him for sure, but I'm not a coach, just a spectator. I'd bet Cal would like to have him right now as well though.

This is about the 10th thread on this very subject.
UK would be slightly better but not much, Dakari got stripped more than a bunny costume at the skankiest strip club in Louisville and he got blocked more than UK's sorry ass blitzes this past football season. Maybe he would have lessoned the damage That UCLA and OSU put upon us but he wasn't some beast in the paint.

No one knows how Dakari would have progressed. Could he have impacted Ohio State's 3 point barrage? Unlikely. He might have been able to slow down UCLA's front court but that was a wild night.

"2014-15 (SOPHOMORE) Appeared in all 39 games for the Wildcats ... Averaged 6.4 points and 4.6 rebounds in 16.4 minutes per game while connecting on 50.6 percent of his shots from the field ..." I'd take that line all day long right now, especially considering that it is more than just conjecture that he'd be even better this year since his stats in the D-League are 11.9 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 2.1 APG, just under a double double.

No 1 knows how Dakari would have progressed if he had come back, but you are missing the point. The primary weakness of our team right now is inability to score from the low post. That deficiency forces our guards to do too much, which in turn accounts for poor spacing and poor shot selection by our guards. Dakari has a low post offensive game, and he would have helped this team for that reason. Dakari is a good enough basketball player to have been drafted by an NBA GM whose job depends on these kinds of personnel decisions. He isn't Anthony Davis, but he is a big, talented player.

It's never going to happen. Why would people continue to start threads about Dakari playing on this team? It's not going to happen.

Well, let's start a new one. Do you think it would help if WCS had returned?:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

If we're going to play in fairy-tale land why not use KAT? Heck, lets just ho ahead and pretend the entire 2014/15 team was still here.

Since its hypothetical I'll say, with Dakari...maybe. Trey Lyles? Most definitely. He would be dominating the inside out game in college this season, imo.

Dakari as a garbage guy finishing offensive rebounds = good

Dakari as a post player = bad

Yeah, Dakari was the one guy I thought made a poor decision for both himself and UK. I know he struggled but he could have been THE center this season and could have really improved himself and helped our Cats at the same time.

Nah, Dakari made the right decision in leaving no doubt about it

This is where someone usually asks, "If you don't like the threads, why do you post in them?"

And it's a good question.

Dakari on this team would be a perfect fit. Having him clog up the middle would allow Skal to move around the high post and get more into the offense.

However, Dakari should've never come back last year...let alone for a 3rd year.

This. There's a lot of revisionism going on with this "if only Dakari came back" stuff.

He'd be better than Skal has been, but I'm not sure by how much. Because, as some seem to have forgotten, Dakari was NOT very good. Could not run, could not jump, could not defend more than 5 feet away from the hoop, very limited skills. We'd be a little better with him, but not a lot.

We have a Dakari on the bench and Cal won't play him. What makes you think Cal is going to slow the game down with our fast guards just so Dakari could get up the court?

He was 7 ft and played under the rim. No difference in him and Humphries, and we have Humphries.

Humphries has a chance to be a good player eventually, but at present he is nowhere close to being the baseline player Dakari was. I'm not suggesting that Dakari was a great player, but he was good enough to get drafted by an NBA GM. Right now, Humphries can't even get on the floor.

Dakari really struggled last year and almost seemed to regress from year 1. other than depth, I doubt he would of brought much help
