D-League Dakari

From a selfish UK perspective, sure, we can all say Dakari should've stayed 4 years and potentially been similar to Meeks.

From an unselfish Dakari perspective, I have my doubts that he becomes what he has at UK. He's used his nearly 2 years in the D-League to set himself up to make an NBA roster, something that Kennedy Meeks has a decent shot of not being able to do. However, people really undervalue the idea of playing basketball and being basketball-focused 24/7 and playing against other guys who are pros on a daily basis.

I said it 2 years ago, and still believe, he should have come back for his JR year, he would have played 25mpg, and gone for 13 & 8 and been a 1st round pick after his JR year.

And he was exactly what we needed and would have made us a top 5-10 team.

Good call. I think Willis ends up playing in the NBA at some point.
I've said all year that Willis has a better chance at an NBA contract than Briscoe. He needs to improve, but a decently athletic 6'9 guy that can hit 3's at a 40+% clip is intriguing to the NBA. If he can get that percentage up over 45%, then he will make a roster somewhere.

That is a huge assumption; that he would have the same improvement.
NBA is his 24/7 job. UK basketball was not.

One thing is for sure. He would have been head and shoulders above Skal last year

Yes it was a bad bad decision but like Briscoe he just didn't like school . It happens.
Most people don't like school. I'm not sure if that's valid reason to make a horrific decision that's detrimental to your future.

I'm not sure if the doesn't like school thing applies to Dakari anyway. He comes from a family of educators and took his education seriously. He spent last summer at UK in summer school and is completing his degree.

Huh didn't know that. I was just going by what everyone said when Dakari left. And I freaking loved school especially college . If I won the lotto I would go back and get another degree and just keep getting degrees til I died. I love learning and growing my knowledge base. But I know most don't feel that way.

I think everyone I have ever known besides people wanting to be teachers or professors, hate school. Briscoe and dakari are not two out of the ordinary people.

I'm all for guys following their dream, making money, but didn't understand that Johnson move. He could've come back and no doubt been a first round pick, getting a nice guarantee. But, what are you going to do

Soon there will be nine total players from that 2015 squad in the league. Man, I loved that team. What a ride!!!! Yes, that's what she said. [smoke]

[laughing]
With 2 bonafide super stars in Towns and Booker. Two potential Superstars in WCS and Lyles. Remember when opposing teams used platooning against in recruiting? Lol well Cal can squash that one now if he wants

Dakari has actually improved a ton over the last two years from everything I've read.

Like another poster I'm not convinced that happens if he stays. I think he would have gotten better but I don't know that he would have taken the leap he has from being able to focus solely on basketball.

I think he'll make a roster soon. He could help a team with his rebounding.
