Kentucky has 16 players on their roster from the state of Florida. UF has one player from Kentucky (redshirt sophomore DB Garrett Stephens).

• Kentucky’s head coach Mark Stoops and Florida’s associate head coach Randy Shannon
each coached at Miami during the 2001-03 seasons. Stoops coached defensive backs while Shannon worked as a defensive coordinator.

• UF’s Shannon also coached alongside Kentucky’s D.J. Eliot during the 2002 season at Miami. Eliot served as a graduate assistant at the time.

• Florida’s defensive backs coach Kirk Callahan and Kentucky’s cornerbacks coach Derrick Ansley’s
paths crossed at UCFduring Ansley’s three-month stint there in 2012. Both worked with the defensive backs.

• Florida head coach Jim McElwain also crossed paths with Ansley during the 2010 and 2011 seasons while at Alabama. McElwain was an OC/Quarterbacks coach and Ansley was a defensive graduate assistant.

• McElwain and Stoops faced off once before when the current Florida HC was Montana State’s offensive coordinator and the current UK HC was the defensive backs coach at Wyoming. Wyoming won the 1998 contest, 17-9.
