Would love to see a guy like Andy Katz wind up at the CBS Sports Network.

CBS has college basketball, NFL, college football.

Could we see a higher profile at CBS?

CBS Sports Network won't go anywhere because they do not have the rights to any major sports. I bet when we play So. Miss it'll be one of their highest rated games ever.

I sure hope so. The people ESPN let go were good at their job, at least the ones I know that have been mentioned.

Show sports. Don't suck at live commentary. Show highlights. Be funny. Don't alienate people or be a tabloid.

It doesn't even require the hundred people ESPN let go yesterday, let alone the huge number that are left.

ESPN sure let go a ton of actual talent. I realize they had to dump so much money, and big contracts are easy to let go. But man, someone is gonna get some really good sports journalists.

I have no idea because I typically don't watch eSpN unless UK is on...so I don't know don't know which ones were actually good and which were not...

The truth is, while ESPN has not been doing as well as they would like in recent years, they are still far and away the premier sports channel. It is going to take some major moves for anyone to reach their level. With that said, it is interesting that no one has made a move to rival them yet. Maybe with these latest layoffs someone will smell blood and take a shot. However, it will be a steep hill to climb, because ESPN is way on top of the hill currently.

KSR says the reporters & anchors don't make near as much as we think they might. I don't know how much that is. Stephen A. Smith is a personality aimed at entertaining a certain demographic that ESPN tries to target. He makes $3 million a year plus commercial deals, made TV & movie appearances. Regardless how one feels about him, many people could still have a job today with just 2 million of that salary going to other employees now out of a job. There are other big time network personalities who only show up like once a month but I am not sure what their salaries are. For example, you only see Kenny Mayne. It may be more than that, haven't watched ESPN in forever.

CBS Sports, Fox Sports, etc. can all up their game due to the ESPN purge. Hopefully they can figure out who their viewers are a bit better though.
