I have seen on a couple of sites he now holds an offer from us. Anybody know anything about him ?

Not a lot. He started getting noticed last year as a freshman. A sophomore starting for this Corbin team is impressive. I expect he'll be a TE. He's 6'3", 200 with good hands and blocks well. Time will tell if he matures into an SEC level player. One thing is certain, he is well coached and will bring some school a high football IQ.

His dad Tony who was All State in Basketball is our High School Basketball coach. Eli is good in Basketball but football is his sport. Great size, hands and vertical jump. Entire family is thru and thru Tennessee fans and his dad played for LSU for 1 season. Since he just a Soph. it be interesting next 2 years to see what other offers he gets. If either UT or LSU offer he will not be a Wildcat.

Maybe Vince Marrow can work some magic here.

I never understood Eastern Kentucky kids and families fascination with Tennessee, I get the proximity to knoxville and all, but Corbin is just as close to Lexington as it is Knoxville.

Most of this (not all) is due to UK not recruiting players in basketball and UT, LSU, and Vandy were getting Kentucky’s leftovers. I can list 10-12 13th region players who were very good hs player and not recruited by UK In basketball. Many of these players attended SEC school for 1-2 years then dropped down a level to get more playing time.
Regardless of facing the reality of one’s own limits, it still leaves some pain when your home state university doesn’t give you any recruiting attention. This isn’t the case for every scenario, but is the backstory behind many of the stories. Parents get older and still cheer for the teams playing against your state university that didn’t recruit you. Classic underdog story.

It's not a whole lot of Eastern Kentucky cheering for the Vols. Very few that I run across. You see a lot of orange around Middlesboro, but most of that is people coming through the tunnel from Tennessee to shop and eat. I live in eastern KY and fairly close to the border and know very few people who cheer on the Vols.

I-75 to Lexington is 10x better than I-75 to Knoxville. I would pick a three lane straight shot to Lexington any day over the two lanes of potholes in TN.. We really are blessed with some of the best interstates and roads around in Kentucky.

I dont know, Corbin is very pro UK in general. I also think some of the shine will be coming off UT by then. We'll have to wait and see.

Ky roads vs AL. roads is like a Cadillac to a Hugo.

If I were on staff I'd be recruiting the hell outta this kid just so I'd have reason to stop by Kings Donuts of Corbin
