Nearly every team we have left has a better QB. That's a problem. Maybe he can turn it around but Im just not seeing any glimmers of improvement. I pray we don't play that soft zone against Cook.

Stoops talking a lot about GA being #1 for a reason as a big reason we looked so bad. Did not really address why receivers are so open on our DB's all the time. Did not address why we can't get pressure on the QB or if it is even possible with our players. If the D is not a little different against Cook he will kill us, and most of us know it. Stoops talked like it would be a close game. So our mentality will probably be to hang in there and hope for a couple of mistakes for us to pull it out. He did not like the question about us taking the next step. Told the guy to come and try doing it and see how hard it is. Said that Bryant will be playing more. Expects Leary to hit open receivers. Said that GA has a lot more money to buy players than we do pointing out the talent discrepancy.
I noticed that OK has twice as many 4 star commitments in the 24 class than us. Have to think upping our recruiting to the next level is what will have to happen if we want to take that next step up. Ten 4 stars in a class for us is good but it is a lot of talent to overcome when the top teams in the conference are doubling our in coming talent quality.

I think Leary is what he is and 6 games is a big enough sample. He's not going to magically change overnight. Just think the stage is too big for him. Think we are in for a huge disappointment this season per Stoops usual paltry slow paced offense. Rewatched the lst half of the Georgia game and the announcer said we were the lowest snap count team in the SEC. Stoops will never be a juggernaut offensive coach. Not in his dna.

In 2021, Leary passed for 3,500 yards with 35 TD's and 5 INT's. He was the preseason ACC Player of the Year last year.
Then he was seriously injured. Stoops and Coen's shoot the moon gambit was that he would recover fully. If he had, we would be in fantastic shape right now. Apparently, however, he did not. He lost arm strength and he must overthrow to attain the velocity he needs at the cost of accuracy.
