The University of Louisville baseball staff scored another big one on the recruiting trail on Saturday evening. The Cardinals landed a commitment from Indianapolis Cathedral outfielder Camden Jordan, who is also a star on the football field and plays basketball for the Irish.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Jordan is a member of the Class of 2021.

In football as a junior, Jordan caught 37 passes for 940 yards and 14 touchdowns.

"I think he can play in the ACC at wideout as well," 247Sports national analyst Steve Wiltfong said.

As a sophomore in baseball, Jordan batted .323 with 15 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 23 games. He didn't make an error in the field.

The addition of Jordan to the Class of 2021 for the Louisville baseball team gives Dan McDonnell and his staff around 16 commitments in a class that is ranked among the top five nationally. Jordan and Trinity's Daylen Lile are two highly-ranked outfielders in the class.

Point taken. However, in my opinion, the stronger they become the stronger we will eventually become.

I like the optimism but there is no basis for this. Lets compare stats since UofLs resurgence in 2007.

Overall records:
UK 428-314
UL 605-240

Head to Head
10-14 UL leads

NCAA Appearances:
UK 2008, 2012,2014, 2017
UL Every year except 2011

Super Regionals
UK 2017
UL 2007,2009, 2013, 2014,2015,2016,2017,2019

College World Series Appearances:
UK
UL 2007, 2013, 2014, 2017, 2019

Now, what do these stats show? I dont know. The SEC/ACC debate is long winded. The type of competition could be debated until the cows come home. All I know, Louisville is miles ahead of UK in baseball. That wasnt going to change this season and wont even change next year. Until UK gets to Omaha and is consistently in the NCAA tournament and being in the contention for the SEC, they wont catch Louisville.

According to UK records, UK leads the series with Louisville 71-47-1. Historically, Louisville is trying to catch UK.

Cats dominated the Cards until the last decade. UL leads UK 15-8 in 2010’s.

Was UK competitive in those 23 games? In my opinion, any game within 4 runs is a competitive game.

2010 UK 5-0
2010 UL 10-9
2011 UK 3-2
2011 UK 7-1
2012 UL 10-2
2012 UL 10-2
2013 UK 5-4
2013 UL 12-5
2014 UK 8-2
2014 UK 4-2
2014 UL 4-1
2015 UL 2-1
2015 UL 5-2
2016 UL 9-6
2016 UL 7-6
2017 UL 5-3
2017 UK 11-7
2017 UL 5-2
2017 UL 6-2
2018 UK 8-5
2018 UL 8-2
2019 UL 8-3
2019 UL 18-6

UK, by my definition, was competitive with UL in 17 out of 23. On the other side of the fence, UL was competitive with UK in 19 out of 23.

Is UL ahead of UK in baseball at the moment? Yes.

Will UK be competitive with UL this decade? Personally, I’m bullish on the Cats. As always, time will tell the tale.

With the emergence of U6, vandy, iu, Mich and others there are no excuses that it can't be done!

Yes, it can be done. It’s more difficult to do in some conferences than it is in others.

Would those non-SEC teams you’re referring to routinely do it in the SEC? I don’t gamble, but if I did, I wouldn’t put my money on them. Would you?

This is still a bad argument. Prior to 2007, the case could be made that UK was above UofL. Prior to 2007, which is what I based my records on, Louisville only had been to one NCAA tournament where UK had been to 3. I will admit that I don’t think Kentucky's success should be measured based on what Louisville does but it’s beyond frustrating to see the success that UofL has had compared to Kentucky. It’s embarrassing to see Louisville being a favorite to win it all when Kentucky can’t even make their own conference tournament. Louisville caught lighting in a bottle with McDonnell. There’s no doubt. And they are riding a lot higher than the Cats.

Vandy has an unfair advantage that’s been talked about to death on this board. But, IU, U6 and Michigan all have great coaches. I think John Cohen was a great coach. I think Henderson was a better coach than what a lot of fans will admit and his record shows He was just too stubborn at times. I want to think Minge is up there too. But the last two+ years says otherwise. Hopefully 2021 will be different.

Wouldn’t you agree that it wasn’t that long ago that UL was ahead of UK in football? They aren’t now. Will they ever be again?

As iron sharpens iron, so one arch rival sharpens another. At least that’s how I see it.

Somewhat agree as Mitch has typically in the past stepped up in all sports to get each one to a point where they are at least near the top of the conference and in most cases the country.

Baseball is the outlier.

Mitch has brought the baseball facilities way up in the past 3 years but it certainly seems odd to me when we went through the building of the baseball stadium and upgrading the facilities, the recruits have not followed.
