SMU is one of 2 remaining unbeaten teams (South Carolina being the other). I see USCjr losing one of their next 3 in the SEC (at Auburn, vs Vandy, at Alabama) and it would leave a known cheater (Larry Brown) and a team with a known player who broke major NCAA rules (Keith Frazier) on the only unbeaten team. Furthermore, Larry Brown is a major part of the other program who should be in the spotlight for cheating (UNC).

Not a good look for the sport, especially when they will likely be the last unbeaten team during a time when CBB starts to take the spotlight for a few months.

It's amazing to me how quickly the NCAA dealt with SMU yet they continue to procrastinate on UNC. I actually wonder if one of the reasons for putting them on probation so quickly was to deflect attention away from UNC. Of course UL did that all by themselves.

I wish a school ,or better yet, a number of schools would publically say to the NCAA "until you address and make a finding in the UNC case don't investigate, attempt to sanction or even visit our school. We won't schedule or play UNC in any sport until a finding is made. I know it won't happen but it will take something like this to get anything done. If Tark was still around he would be shouting this from the top of a Casino somewhere.

That's a great idea. The NCAA is simply too subjective and too powerful. Who checks them?

The courts can but they are limited due to the NCAA having voluntary membership. Congress can but they are busy doing more important things. [laughing][laughing]

I wonder what Mitch Barnhart or Eli Capiluto think of this... Any of you Lexington media types that read this board brave enough to ask them? I am sure they would go with "We can't comment about an open NCAA investigation". Maybe then just ask them about the concept of fake classes to keep players eligible instead of bring up the scandal. Ask them what they thought the punishment should be for a school that provides that service.

Maybe Rick could do it, you know, something like "in all my 40 years of coaching I have never seen a scandal this big, we wouldn't even try this at UL"
