Per KSR Colin Goodfellow has withdrawn from the portal and will return to UK, on scholarship.
And that was roughing in the 3rd quarter of the city’s bowl…. lolHe did a good job and kept getting better. Had to fill in for an injured starter. Appreciated his effort. Stats were good
In general, that wouldn't be a good thing. But with all the attrition, it seems like we have plenty of open scholarships and he'll only be here one more season.Glad to have him back, but we have too many kickers/punters on scholarship IMO.

While I'm optimistic about Berry - assumiing his back is ok - Goodfellow is a good fellow and a known quantity as an above average punter. I'd say he's earned the scholarship based on his performance last year. Glad to have him back.
I checked and you've been here long enough to remember people laughing at us giving scholarships to kickers/punters at all. A pawn can win the chess game.Glad to have him back, but we have too many kickers/punters on scholarship IMO.

I know. Just pointing out that we went from none to too many. 66 players get you 3 deep at every position. We're allowed 85. Maybe a couple of those kickers are 4.0 and help our GPA. I don't know.I'm fine with giving a kicker and a punter scholarships. Just not having 4 on scholarship.
I'm fine with bringing him back for one more year on scholarship, I just think we need to cut Chance Poore loose and cut our losses with him. I think Goodfellow coming back says more about Berry's back issue than anything. Granted Goodfellow had a very solid year, I believe 2nd in the SEC in yards per attempt.

Ditto.UK must feel they weren’t going to fill all of their scholarships. But nice to have our punter back.
Mmmmm.
Kicking is “1/3rd of the game,” according to some coaching masters, like Claiborne and Frank Beamer.
Agreed. Seems like Chance is just the designated "kick it in the end zone so they can't return it" guy. Is that all he does? I hate to bring it up again but I still cringe at him missing the relatively easy FG vs Florida in 2019.I'm fine with bringing him back for one more year on scholarship, I just think we need to cut Chance Poore loose and cut our losses with him. I think four is likely typical. One going into his 3rd or 4th year, and one into his first has to be typical. Otherwise, you are always counting on a frosh or walk-on to be successful. Not sure that is a good risk. Of course, the current status of the portal can fix a mistake. But, counting on the portal for kicker/punters is also a risk.Agreed, but still, no need for 4 scholarship kickers/punters on a roster. 2 on scholarship is plenty IMO.

I remember Berry punting in the season opener, maybe the Missouri (?), but very little if any after that. Hopefully the team can settle on a full-time punter after spring camp, then the other guy will have a decision to make.
