Coen to Miami?

Apparently Miami media saying he’s a name to keep an eye on.

Per KSR.
The Greeks called it hubris. The Miami football crowd and the media following them have a bad case. They've had it for awhile now. They play these games, thinking they can have what they want from the likes of us. Fact is, he has a better job and a better place to live in Lexington. Pretty sure he knows it.

We needed to be expecting that from the beginning. 2 seasons was the most I expected to get from him. Hopefully we will get that 2nd season. Before anyone starts getting upset over that, it's a long way from being the grave yard of coaching to a stepping stone to NFL jobs. Still we do need it to not happen so fast that we don't even get 2 seasons out of him.

Don't get me wrong , Lexington is a nice town, but better than Miami? That's pure delusion.

Miami & Cristobal have really struggled to fill out his staff. Not too worried Coen joins a rebuilding job rather than a veteran offense & QB. Coaching Canes 2022 would be a step back for his career arch.

No chance he goes there

I don't think he goes there, but there is never no chance on an assistant coach changing jobs.

With that said, Miami area is a goal mind for talent. The right coach would have them in the talks for the playoffs in 2 years. They are welcoming for stars back as support staff and that helped with their recruiting. I think Cristobol is a top 5 heD coach recruiter. Win 2 big games in the ACC gets you in the playoffs.

Why would Coach Coen leave an offense that HE constructed with players HE brought in????

Besides that, Miami is NOT "THE U" anymore!!!

If UK can get to the SEC Championship. Coach Coen will be able to write his own ticket to a Head Coaching job.

I don't know. I was in Naples last spring and ran into a Hispanic guy in his mid-30s at the hotel we were staying. He was loading his luggage on a cart to go home and we struck up a conversation about how far he had to drive. I asked him where he was from and he said Miami. I then asked why he would drive almost directly west instead of going to the beach he had at home? He said all that was left in Miami was a bunch of "young punks", and he was getting out of there as soon as he could.

Just passing that along from one of the locals..

Miami is lost due to leadership. They are ate up with people who look down on athletics. Its hard to build a program when everyone involved hates sports.

No longer the case. May not be the support A&M and Bama are giving, nut no longer at the lol of Duke either. They are offering competitive salaries which wasn't the case when Mark Richt took the job.

Not at all. At least wasn’t my intention. That’s why I added the ? marks. Don’t think he would go there but you never know nowadays.
That’s what you said. KSR article said his name was mentioned. Your title indicated that it could happen or he was serious about leaving. It would be a huge step down for Coen. There was no evidence at all that Coen had been contacted or that he would consider it. But that’s the way KSR writes.

That isn't what some vets are saying.

Yeah I didn’t mean nothing. Will gladly change it if it makes it easier.

Vets? They have brought in multiple former players as support staff. Cristobol is from the Saban Tree its one of the demands all off them have. Now their stadium isn't really theirs and they don't draw huge crowds, no one in Florida has outstanding facilities. But like I said Cristolbol is an elite recruiter, he hasn't hit on all his assistants like Coen, or Schuman, UGA's defensive game planer and best defensive coach, 2 Butkus award winners in 6 years, have both said no. But the fact those are his first targets says he isn't settling for 2nd lol coaches. I think they replace Clemson as the top program in the ACC within 3 years. If Dabo sticks to his guns of no transfers quicker. He will kill the program he built, got to adapt and as of now he is refusing.

Im not saying no way Coen leaves but….

1. Does anyone believe Miami can pay him more for than UK/Sec money?
2. Does a coach take a lateral to join up ACC when you’re already in Sec?

I just think Sec is clearly pulling away from rest of P5 conference. Maybe Big 10 is not too far behind but the NIL deals and tv deals just feel like ACC and PAC 12 are little brother conference to Sec and Big 10

Guess it depends on where he wants to raise his child.
I don't think he'll end up in Miami, but I also don't think it will have anything to do with this. He's young, his kid is just born. He's the type that seems to be making career based decisions. He's not going to be staying in Lexington terribly long assuming he continues to show growth and has options but I think we get him another year or two.

He isn't leaving this year. He got a nice raise and Levis already said his decision to return was tied to coen staying.

Also I can't see him leaving for Miami at all.
