Coen Mic'd Up

I understand why he went back to the pros...but damn I wish we could have saw Levis with Coen as OC for another year.

Would've been much better. Scang tried to force him to read defenses, even down to reading one defender. Still struggled. Coen would've had plays schemed for open throws.

Coen is an elite coach. His play design/calling is just part of it. His connection with the players, charisma, and energy is just incredible. We were lucky to have him once. Crazy lucky to have him again.

I believe Coen is signed for 3 yrs here. I don't remember what the buyout this time is. But he won't be here long, he'll be a HC soon

Who is Number 13 in the video. His number is not listed in Rivaks as a QB.

The finishing scene, he favors Leary with the beard, but Leary isn’t throwing this Spring and is listed by Rivals with “0” as his Jersey number.

Hmmmm.

Leary wore 13 at N.C.Sate, so it looks like he’s doing some 7 on 7 work in Lexington in March!

I thought I had heard he was not throwing in Spring?

Maybe no contact, or some other restrictions?

Based on what Stoops was saying in his first Presser, he's participating in spring, but he's on some kind of "pitch count" so to speak. So I took that to mean he's throwing but limited.

What number is Deuce Hogan? Why is Levis on that list?

A second year in the same system would have made last year so much better. Coen as OC may have made the difference in the losses to Ol’Miss and certainly Vandy.

As I recall, offense looked pretty decent vs ole miss. Defense dropped the ball.

Offense had two key end game red zone drives end in QB fumbles and a key QB mistake wiping off a game winning td. Then somewhere between that and the SC game, Levis developed turf toe. All downhill from there.

Levis waits another 1/4 second to snap that ball, the TD to key counts and last season probably goes entirely different

Defense allowed 22 at Ole miss, including only 3 second half points. They more than did their job.

Water under the bridge, we'll never know what Coen would have done with the O in 22. The O line problems wouldn't go away, we still would have been playing a bunch of inexperienced guys. Maybe he wouldn't have put O linemen in wrong spots. We still would have had the CRod suspension, still counting in true freshman wide recievers.

Scan wanted to continue Levis development and clearly coached him to be a pocket passer, to always stay in the pocket and look downfield, never scramble. Didn't work behind a bad O line. Also he mysteriously hardly ever gave Levis a short dump off option, everyone Levis looked at would be 10-20 yds downfield.

Still kills me Scan completely took away QB run, until late in the Ole Miss game. then he calls a read option, and because Levis is rusty he tries to truck the Reb defender instead of just get by or around him for the 1st. D put his hat right on the ball 1 on 1, forced fumble, turnover #1 of 2 late backbreaker.

Oh well what is done is done, be excited for the precious present

Hopefully they assigned him an ankle bracelet that shocks when he gets too close to the state line…love his enthusiasm.

Possibly even Tennessee as well (you can bet we would have put way more points up on them with Coen like we did the year before)
