COACHING CHANGES (we know it not going to be Mark Stoops)

Which of our coaching have under preformed on and/or off the field this year? Which ones do you feel need to be let go and why? Which position groups should have done better? which coaches don't pull their weight recruiting?

While they have gotten better, I think the OLine has underperformed and it is probably going to be Yenser. Coen is safe though the offense needs to make some changes. I'm not sure those changes are a result of what Coen did or what Stoops did. Brad White needs to make some changes as the D underperformed greatly this year. Part of that is scheme. Part of that is the sheer amount of experience we lost from last year. His reputation and performance in previous years gets him some well earned leeway. He does need to up the aggressiveness a little. Vince is vince and is going no where. Boulware needs to change some things with special teams. Why he thought making an australian style punter switch to a regular style was a good idea is beyond me? The RBs were good but the punting was dreadful. Mike Stoops isn't going anywhere. Woodward might be a casualty because the WR underperformed and took a step back.

I liked to see a wholesale change but like OP said aint gonna be Stoops. Why we run a 3-4 without athletes on the outside is beyond me. Go back to a base 4-3 on defense. We have had the lineman for it. Run more man than this stupid zone we do. Josh Allen aint walking through that door.

That's pretty simple if you have watched the games. Coaches who have underperformed and need to be changed:
DC
LB coach
DB coach
OL coach.
WR coach
Safeties coach
AD

I just don't get how anyone can say the DC has underperformed and needs to be changed. This year the defense took a step back but they lost a lot of experience. I saw a stat that said the defense this year lost a total of 41 (or something like that) SEC starts from the defense last year. That is an insane number. Prior to this year, only GA, AL, and UK were ranked top 5 in SEC defenses for the last 5 years. Brad White has earned the benefit of the doubt based on previous years.

BW has had a horrible year calling defensive plays. He just couldn't seem to get the right call, get the play call in on time, and certainly had the slowest start on defense in every game since he has been here. I have heard him say he just couldn't make the right call in some of these games.

His passive, laid back approach to defense is reflective of his personality in my opinion.

Slow talker. Slow thinker. Slow to react. His defense plays that way. Absolutely refuses to attack teams that have way less talent on offense than we have on defense.

His passive scheme against the uptempo fast paced offenses just will not work.

How many games do we have to lose before he and CMS get it????

Can he change his scheme/defensive philosophy??

If not, he needs to go or we will continue this downward trend of losing to teams we should not be losing to.

ONE bad year...You don't get fired after one bad year when you lose that much starting experience and have had the success he has had.

I am in no way advocating for BW to get fired.
BUT, if he continues to falter in defending spread/tempo offenses and refuses to change how he attacks on defense, I am hoping he finds greener pastures and moves on.
BW has had way more than ONE bad year in ATTEMPTING to defend modern offenses.

I understand he is coaching the CMS defense.

Your initial post flat out listed DC as a coach that needed to be changed.

I think White and Coen are very good coaches. I think Yenser needs to go and whomever coaches the DB`S . Honestly I am for keeping Coen and White and canning Stoops. I think his Iowa win 14-10 philosophy needs to go!

Does CHANGED mean FIRED???

Yes, I think we need a change at DC. I would prefer he find another job and choose to leave on his own.

The LSU job will probably be open again this year. He probably should have taken that job last year, in retrospect.

Another year at UK like this year, and BW will lose a lot of his credibility as being a viable candidate for DC at a prominent football school like LSU.

Yenser was OC at Kansas and they had three wins total in three years. Why in the world does that qualify you for a Kentucky job in the same capacity? Only in college football can you stink at one job and connections give you an even better job at another school.. The guy actually accepted a high school coordinator job after being fired at Kansas before one of his buddies snatched him up for another college job.

Just ridiculous statements. BW had repeatedly has our defense ranked among the best in conference and nationally. One down year while losing a monumental amount of experience and you think he needs to go. I’ve read a bunch of absolutely horrible takes on here, but yours might be the worst.

Then stop reading my post. Nobody forcing you to read my opinions. Use the ignore button.

You seem really angry that someone has an opinion different from yours. That is not a good look for you.

Not angry at all. Just pointing out the holes in your position as well as your inability to acknowledge the overall success rate of BW.

Sooo, calling someone's post " ridiculous, horrible, and the worst of all of them" is just pointing out holes in my position.

Lol.
OK, Dude.

Those were just statements about your post after pointing out the holes in them which prompted you to double down.

I am concerned what effect Mike Stoops has had on this year. You know he is in Marks ear alot. I am surprised this isn’t discussed more.

Linebacker play has been below expectations this year without a doubt.

The bigger question is does Mike have CMS ear more than BW in game planning on defense.

Let it go, man.

I stated my opinion based on the Op's question.

You just want to argue and make condescending remarks because you don't agree with MY OPINION!!!

That's OK. You are entitled to your opinion. But so am I.

Just Drop it. If you can.

Defense hasn't been that bad on the whole. It's mainly one position group (safety) and mainly one guy. They also constantly have high performers and I'm sure not coached to blow coverage. So buffano might get the boot but I'd only do it if you have someone for sure better.

Collins on the other hand developed on guy at CB and we can't upgrade the talent there nor develop who we have. Never delivered as advertised in recruiting. We should be able to upgrade there

Mike stoops should probably move on. Ilb noticable slight decline since summral left. We can probably do better and I hate the nepotism angle. However he does recruit pretty well. Tough call.

Yenser does a good job and is a capable recruiter. Not going anywhere imo unless we go back to inside zone (which we should imo). If so he will leave imo because he coaches only wide zone or so he says.

I think woody is already replaced as wr coach by a QA but stays on staff. Maybe QB coach since that's his true slot anyway.

Not sold on boulware but we'll see.

I’d fire
Oline
Dline
Wide receiver
Secondary
I would fire Barnhart and the Head Coach and that would take care of the rest of them. Legitimate quality coaches will not work under Stoops because he is at the heart of the problem. Barnhart has put this program in one hell of a bad spot and to pretend otherwise is just dishonest.

Well the inside liber to me has been solid in Jackson and Wallace

Now the jack lber has been very unproductive in JJ weaver..to which Brad white coaches that position

The other glaring issue is safety. Childress and Lovett have been bad …especially Childress. Buffano has a lot to answer why he can’t Coach Childress ti blow huge plays in about every sec game

I actually think Wallace has taken a step back in his play this year, and Jackson is a thumper in run defense but can't cover his own shadow in pass coverage.

Watching Jackson trying to drop in zone coverage knowing the next thing you are going to see are the numbers on the back of his jersey is priceless.

Totally agree on JJ. He has had a really disappointing season. Time for him to move on.

I haven't gone back and watched any UK games this year because, frankly, I just can't stomach to watch the crap we put on the field again. But the last few games it seems like Rayner is coming in on 3rd down for Jackson a lot. Our 3rd down defense has been terrible this year. Hopefully getting a little more speed on the field will help.

Recruiting needs an entire overhaul, not necessarily in terms of staff but where they are focused.

I'm done with Ohio. Would like to see a focused effort on Texas, California, Georgia, Florida.

I think they need to bring in a QB coach to free up LC so he can have more ability to coach up the whole offense and get everyone on the same page. Focus more on game planning, play calling, as opposed to QB hand holding.

We all love the big fella, but the inconsistent to nonexistent TE production in passing game is holding the entire offense back. I don't know if that's him or CMS influence on him, regardless we need a more modern era TE approach from recruiting to development, game planning, and execution on game day.

Special teams need a complete overhaul and dedicated staff...no split duty coaches.

Rayner has the speed to cover but needs at least 25 pounds to play every down.

Way too light for SEC linebacker. I would try him at nickle on passing downs like 3rd and 17.
He is a hustler and has a nose for the football. I like his game.

Wallace was a completely different player after his injury against Florida. I'm not sure what the injury was but it has zapped his explosiveness. Hopefully he sits out the Spring and gets totally healthy, because he is just a shell of what he was prior to the injury.

I forgot what injury he suffered, but it or something is certainly affecting his lateral quickness and speed to the ball based on his earlier play at LB.

Sure hope he can recover whatever it is. Love his game.

Wallace's injury was to his shoulder. He and Jackson tied for tackle leaders vs U6 with 11 each.
