Agreed. And not sure what the hell basketball has to do with anything. In basketball the polls reward gaudy wins and style points as well though at times depending on the team name.

Uk losing by 3 at Ole Miss and beating Florida is more impressive than all those wins over cupcakes by Utah combined, IMO.
