Coach Buh on Josh Allen

I've said it 100+ times, and I don't mind saying it 100+ more. Kid will be a star OLB for us. Leading NJ in sacks (with 22.5 in a season), and that being your first year at the position (or even 4th year, for that matter) is insane. Prior to that, he was an All-State WR in Alabama. Kid is a stud. Very excited to have him as one of our OLB's. Was definitely underrated. Ohio State coach could be serious when he said that Allen was the best DE he sent to college.

Wish he had this coming year to live in the weight room and at the training table, but I am looking forward to seeing him play. Reminds me of Jarmon.

Allen and Ware will be playing the same position, I believe, in this defense.

Fans are looking stupid for moaning about this class on signing day and focusing on what was lost, rather than what was gained.

Freddie Maggard said he rated this class higher than the 2014 class that was rated in the Top 20. I agreed with him.

Very nice! Just what the doctor ordered....now give me a couple of healthy middle backers and call it a day

Wow, pretty strong statement, better than a class that was not just great at the top (TEN four stars, with Barker and Williams 5.9s) but great depth, only TWO 5.5s (TV and Stamps) and ONE 5.4 two star, Stallings. Amazing class for UK, best ever IMO. Do you remember the 07 class after one of the VERY FEW break even seasons in the SEC since Curci (three, or four, forget), that had NINETEEN two stars, with only ONE a 5.4 (Lendl, injured), that averaged LESS than a 5.15 for the nineteen, even counting Lendl? With the typical ONE four star not coming close to qualifying.

Now, could one person have a better evaluation of the classes than the huge staff on Rivals that does this for a living? JMO, but yes, he could, after all UK's relatively small staff has done a MUCH better job than Rivals for several years now.

This staff is not just doing a great job by the rankings but also by the pure talent, I am very excited about UK's future, not just from the players everyone agrees are going to be big contributors (which doesn't always happen, see the four star OL) but also from the surprises this staff is bringing in.

Some of it just depends on who goes to certain camps and the websites can punish a players ratings if they don't attend their camp. It kind of pressures the player into doing it.

If Allen and Ware are the best pass rushers, they will play at the same time situationally whether or not they are pegged for the same spot.

I'm done with arguing about prospects with Freddie. He obviously knows more than I ever will. Can't believe how right he was on the team stoops inherited and each class he's gotten.

Maybe. But they are more likely to not be on the field at the same time, as I believe their inexperience is likely to compound if on the field at the same time.

Good example of stars being off..Richardson-Stallings..oline is very hard to see who will make it and who doesn't....
Also never thought westry would be that good.remember a cb "forgot his name" from DC area had me excited till he pick Miami, and here westry is probably better! Stoops has a eye for talent that's for sure..

There are so many young, upcoming stars in this program now. 1-2 more seasons and we'll be in the thick of the SEC East race.

These kids are the same kind of kids he has recruited wherever he coached. Not every player on the elite teams are five stars. Many are high three and fours just like we're getting who become elite players because of the coaching staff they are playing for. Coach Stoops and his staff have developed a lot of good players at other programs and will do it here.

Does anyone know what Allens real weight is I have seen everything from 210 to 225? IMO if this kid can gain 15 or so more pounds and keep his explosiveness we are really going to have something.

My concern is his run defense. True frosh LBs vs SEC running game can be problematic.

I also love the attitude of UK fans who are gushing over players that have never seen the field yet.

But I confess that I am excited to see Edwards and West play, look like real good prospects to me. Just not ready to proclaim that we are heading to the Sugar Bowl based on preseason comments by coaches who all say the same thing at every school in the country. What do you expect to hear this time of year? "The kids I am coaching are worthless, they can't play dead, we are going to get our asses kicked each and every Saturday."

I think every coach is different but as a whole Stoops definitely reserves his legitimate praise for players that will truly contribute. Stamps comes to mind from last year.

I'm assuming Buh is cut from the same cloth. If he's comparing Allen to Ware on ability and saying he's going to have a great year, I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt. Big difference when you're bringing in a bunch of talented guys and talking about a few that stand out early verses bringing in very mediocre talent and grasping at straws for some positive. JMO.

Bump...Would really be interested in this guy's current weight. 225 would be a WHOLE lot move field ready than 210ish..

From what I've read, Auburn is VERY impressed Dinson. Michigan State thinks one of the Dowell twins (The safety of the two) have future All-American written all over them....and from what I've read, Harris is expected to play a big Role for Bama this year.

We certainly missed out on some talented players there. Luckily we seem to have replaced them with lightly heralded guys in Westry, Baity, King who are also showing that they were maybe THE steal's of the class.

This staff appears to have a VERY legitimate eye for talent. If they offer, it means something. Hell, didn't UK turn away the #1 Center in the Nation last year as well? Remember us fans being hyped about him but then he camped and the coaches decided not to offer and the kid ended up at USF.

Yes, Harris did us no favors by bailing, I am convinced that started the avalanche of decommits. I am afraid he will be sorely missed at UK, much like Shaun Alexander in the 90s.

There you go gushing about a player that has not seen the field yet in a college game. We do not know that the player from Berea will be sorely missed by the Cats. The truth is he has a good chance at being a bust at Alabama. He did not play against the best of competition in high school and we do not know how he will work out at Alabama against big time competition. Heck Alabama could have already recruited over him.

again as has to be repeated on here a strangely frequent amount of times, Harris was never here to bail off from our wagon as he was never a commit.

live in the precious present not the miserable past. hopefully the 1st kick return he takes for 50+ yards by King will help you get over this haunting specter the Berea RB has cast over your football outlook.

Interesting. I think Alexander being missed had more to do with the state of UK talent than his absence. So, I suspect you are wrong.

Alexander was also strangely overlooked, kind of like Pitino and Rondo or Crum with Anderson. Stoops gave Harris more attention and effort than he probably should have. So, te remorse factor should be less. There are no what-ifs with Harris. He did not want to be here.

Then he will win the Heisman, as Alabama already has commits from the No. 1 RB in the 2016 class and the No. 1 RB in the 2017 class.

BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND:

Wonder if the plan for Allen will be as a 3rd down/passing down designated rush-the-QB type role?

You're wrong. Harris gave Stoops EVERY INDICATION he wanted to be here at UK.

That's why some of us won't be letting it go any time soon....Harris stabbed us in the back and led us to believe over and over that he was very interested in UK and was leaning towards us.

Stoops did a fantastic job recruiting him and that's what it takes to sign the best players in the country. Stoops had every reason to believe Harris would sign with us. Why do you think he flew a helicopter to a Harris game??

Furthermore, Harris made a mistake. I still believe his mom wanted him here at UK from everything I've heard.

You are right . . . and unlike Alabama, we can't easily replace a 5* running back right in our back yard.

But the other posters have a good point also, he never actually committed, and he won't be here, so next man up, etc. I haven't given much thought to King to be honest, hope he helps, but probably on down the road if at all. As for 2015, I hope Boom goes for 1500 this season. It could happen, actually.

King is playing this year. Already on the 1st team as a kick returner.

I do think I commented on Harris's comments or indications in any way. So, not sure how I could be wrong on that issue.

And, my comments about Stoops were meant as a compliment to him and a contrast to how Alexander was overlooked and wrongly recruited.

But, I think your response demonstrates how overly emotional people are about this.

Definitely expect Allen to play as a DE in our nickel so that he can rush the passer along with Ware.

Ware, Allen, and Hatcher off the edges would be cool if they are getting after it like the coaches tell us.

I hope/think we are saying we got a real steal in a couple of years on this kid. His HS coach sure seems to think so.
