An article on CP indicated he might be less likely to sign with UK due to an "uncomfortable situation with cornerback teammate Cameron Calhoun, who's already committed. Anyone know what this is in reference to?

Calhoun is signing with WVU.

No issue there!

Duh! I misread the recruiting info. It said 100% UK, but I totally missed the WVU commitment.

I think what they meant and who knows if it is true, is when they didn't accept Calhoun's commitment that Matthews may have not liked how UK handled it.

Calhoun trolled UK fans on the commitment graphic and they dragged him for it. Jermaine said they needed to chill out and they dragged him too.

Can't really troll if you weren't a take to begin with. I'm sure there were some idiotic Kentucky fans that didn't know the backstory who probably said ridiculous things, as all fan bases do.

I wish the vehemence for casual readers was commensurate to their knowledge.

Awkward situation. 2 kids at the same school play the same position group. recruiting both, but right now only 1 a definite "take". Hard to negotiate that without hurt feelings even with Vince.

I don’t know any back stories but this situation looks like a disaster of mismanagement. Here is an important talent producing school 90 minutes from campus with two interested CB’s, both of which may have been ultimately in our class and it looks like a communication breakdown will cost us both and caused who knows how much damage for other recruits. All of this at a position that has become the biggest weakness on the team after being a team strength two years ago. Let me add that I don’t believe fans should not criticize players on social media.

We really need Collins to get rolling. He’s young, obviously relates to kids well, past recruiting coordinator, hopefully it starts paying off this cycle.
Collins is going to be fine. People forget that he has only been here for ten months and this is his first full recruiting class at Kentucky. He didn't get hired till June last year.

I assume the same about Collins. UK is just missing several stud recruiters, the new guys need to start shining.

What I like about Collins/recruiting is that he was recruiting coordinator at Ga St. RCs traditionally have contacts with HS coaching staffs so Collins is familiar with coaches in his area of responsibility, GA/North FL primarily. That'll pay off.

The guy I'm very hopeful for re recruiting is Anwar Stewart. Young, personable, enthusiastic. Hoping to see more success coming from him.

About a year ago, I thought Stewart was really starting to come on, but things have been very quiet with him this cycle. Marrow & Collins are carrying the majority of the load at the moment.

Yeah, I'm hoping Stewart kicks in soon.

Saw on Twitter Stewart is in FL today, 4/26.

We have severely degraded our recruiting abilities from our secondary & linebacker coaching positions. Guy Stewart replaced wasn't doing much before he left.

Pretty frustrating with the dramatic success on the field over the last 4 yrs, we willingly hired lesser recruiters for position openings. Damn lucky Coen brought in Woodward last yr, arguably 2nd best recruiter toauto fill!

edit: damn autofill!

These guys need time to get established, too early to write them off. If the '23 class takes a dip there's reason for concern.

Woodhouse?

Ask any other non-Vandy SEC fanbase if they will be OK with new assistants needing a yr or 2 to get established.

Buffano
Collins
Stewart
Mike Stoops

Nothing I've seen that those guys are gonna fill the recruiting shoes of Dean Hood, Clink, & Sumrall.

Hood wasn't much of a recruiter at Kentucky for the most part. Collins is probably Kentucky's second best recruiter right now. Buffano, for some reason Kentucky still foolishly has him primarily recruiting the St Louis area which is a waste of time. Not entirely his fault. Mike Stoops, well, he has been here three months and has been a successful recruiter in the past. Stewart, has had moments, but needs to pick it up even more.
